And another dominant pitching performance by the Sox pushes the Rays further out in the division. Sox throw their 2nd immaculate inning of the year (pitch by pitch video in the link below) w Porcello getting it done this time. On to NY w an 8 game streak.

Wow...nice. The Sox are really starting to get their shit together at the right time. Now they need to take 2 of 3 from the Skanks and give themselves a good hold for the stretch run.

Sweep the Rays with some great starting pitching. Stringing a bunch of wins together in a row. Nunez is a mega stud in a Sox uni. I'm digging the lineup changes the last couple nights.

Need to swap Devers and X in the lineup. Twice now X can't get the two out hit...Devers would have got at least one of those.

What a series against the Yankees. Sox take 2 out of 3 and were an 8th inning collapse in game 1 from a sweep. The young guys continue to impress. Devers goes deep in the 9th on a 1-2 103mph flame and Benny wins it in the 10th. Wow. Sale was great. Kluber is the only pitcher in the AL with a chance in the CY Young race. 5.5 game lead for the Sox and they've won 10 of 11.

That was a VERY satisfying win. Love when they snatch victory from the hands of defeat of the Yankees.

Sale sizzling, Devers crushing, Benintendi clutch and Kimbrel doing his thing.

But Farrell still makes me scratch my head.

Pomeranz continued to impress last night before going out with back spasms in the 4th. Workman came on and pitched well, Barnes struggled and it was a shit show until Reed came on and got Judge and Sanchez with the bases loaded. Kimbrel shower Chapman what a closer looks like in the 9th by striking out the side.

The bats continued to stay hot. The power is coming around from all spots in the lineup. Timely hitting by the whole group, especially with 2 strikes. Great win.

Sale goes today against CC. Sale has a 1.19 ERA in 3 starts against NYY this year. Have to feel good going into today.

5 game lead w Sale taking the hill. Gotta feel good about today. Very nice comeback last night. After leading 3-0, they give up 6 straight runs then score 6 straight themselves. Barnes gives me no comfort and Farrell not pulling Scott 1 batter earlier than he did was another head scratcher. Some times it seems they win despite him.

Happy 78th B'day to Yaz!

Happy b-day Yaz!! Might have mentioned this before - my younger brother's first name is Yaz after dad's favorite player of all time...poor kid, most his age only know YAZ as a birth control.

What a performance from Fister. Gives up a lead off homer on the 3rd pitch in the bottom of the 1st. He then goes 9 innings of no hit ball allowing only 2 walks and a hit batsman. Nunez w a 3 run bomb and 5 RBI's. Barnes goes on DL (mercifully) before the game.

Baseball a funny but great game...Anyone remember when our offense was the concern while stroking the pitcher's nuts?

8/26 - Our pitching may have carried too much weight early on: Chris Sale is going through his normal late seasoned shit hole; reigning CY Young winner can't keep the ball down; David Price is more concerned about Dennis Eckersley and the media than getting people out (if he ever comes back); Rodriguez is hit or miss;

Drew Pom is our ace.

Fact. Look rough lately.

I was there Friday to see that massacre.

Would be nice if Cleveland could catch Houston. Indians are the last team I want Boston playing in the first round.

MLB needs to look at this home plate ump tonight....yankees hitters are consistently getting 4 or 5 strikes to use. This is embarrassing....check the k zone....just really one sided.

sam holbrook is a fucking joke. He just gave the game to the yankees....damn shame because severino has pitched a hell of a game...but this is an official asterisk. BS game, BS umpiring.

I wouldn't mind Cora.

Ausmus doesn't impress me with what he did it Detroit.

They need to make some roster moves or it won't matter who the skipper is.

I'd give up Benintendi and a prospect or two in a heartbeat to have Stanton hitting in the middle of the lineup.

Also need to figure out what to do with JBJ. Although he plays a great center field his bat has gotten worse and worse. I cringed the last game when Boston had bases juiced with Bradley, Pedroia then X coming up - sure enough leave them loaded - Bradley Ks per usual, DP Ks as well (followed by manager ejection) then X has yet another poor AB because he has been lunging at the ball ALL 2nd half (bad hitting coach).

Speaking of that bad hitting coach - Chili Davis I believe has a lot to do with this team consistently under hitting. Whoever replaces him will be an instant upgrade.

All that being said - IF Nunez was healthy against Houston the series might have played out different. One has to believe he would have gotten at least one key hit the Red Sox were in desperate need of.

Ausmus would be the best thing ever.

Dealer Dave takes no prisoners. I think their winter should be interesting.

Why would Ausmus be the best thing ever? He took a high payroll team coming off the World Series and failed... He had Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander and a good David Price and got swept in 3 games to the Orioles...

Yea, I don't get the Ausmus love.

I would not give up Benny.

I would however, give up X, KRod and a prospect for Stanton and not bat an eye.

You can't give up JBJ because of what he does for this team defensively and there are far worse hitters at the bottom of the lineup across the league.

It was kind of sarcasm. I don't think it would be much of a hire.

Dealer Dave vetted and hired him in Detroit. So I personally would find it funny if he hired him again in Boston.

His first year in Detroit they won 90 games and a Central Division. The payroll wasn't his doing and doesn't guarantee anything in terms of postseason success. The team slowly deteriorated to what they are now, not all of that being his doing either.

Ausmus, while an incredibly handsome man (while true, I'm saying that somewhat sarcastically too) also went to Dartmouth. That being said, he has very little interest in using Sabermetric data as a manager. That's right up Dealer Dave's mentality when it comes to his front office philosophy.

I'm more interested to see what kind of moves they make with their roster. Would they go back to the trade market for another bat (Jose Abreu or Avi Garcia from Chicago maybe?) and do they have the assets to trade in order to get one?
