Is anyone else angry with Brian Kelly's decision to keep Dayne Cryst out for so long and then all of a sudden bring him back for the start of the third? If he was that hurt to play the first & second then he shouldn't have been healthy enough to play the second half. But the dumbass Kelly waited and waited to see if his 2 pieces of shit for back ups could get things done and it cost us the game. I want answers from Brian Kelly as he should have known better if the injury wasn't serious then put him back in but he pulled a Brett Favre and wavered!

Nope, I would rather keep Dayne out the rest of the season and lose every single game if it means there won't be a risk to his long term health. I love the game of football and ND, but winning isn't worth anyone's health or ability to live a full life after football.

Dude chill out. And dont call our backup qb's "pieces of shit". Thats a good way to get banned and excellent 2nd post btw. (notice my sarcasm?) So we lost the game. Its a game. On to Michigan State now. Nothing we can do about it.

I agree with griff...I'm really not sure he should have played at all if he had concussion symptoms, but we don't have any real details to go on.

Yes but why was he put back in the game in the first place? I would imagine the injury wasn't serious and Brian Kelly knew it but just wanted to be safe but all of a sudden your down 21-7 and then it's ok to put him back in? Well that's just being a hyprocite as like I said if was to injured in the first half then he should have been too injured for the second half.

You're wrong.

1. It's not BK's decision.

2. He has surrounded himself with a highly qualified medical staff who will not rush health care decisions for the athletes. Evaluations, particularly decisions regarding injuries about the head or the face take time, sometimes inconvenient time. But, it is essential to perform a thorough examination to insure the health of the student-athlete.

To sum up, you're still wrong.

Why didn't BK kick the FG at the end of the 1st half?....We would have been going for a GW FG if BK kicks that FG.

I blame BK for this loss. I love BK and still think this team will keep improving, but he lost us that game.

I still think a Michigan player poked him in the eye on that QB keeper into the endzone..

Well, he just said it was his fault we lost the game at the press conference. He didn't put our players in a position to win. He took the shotgun blast for the team.

He didn't know Crist's availability for the 2nd half. It was the right call considering the circumstances

I would have gone for it as well. 21-7, UM gets the ball back after the half. You don't know if your starting QB is coming back, need the points.

I am more alarmed by how poorly our back ups played... I know they aren't Dayne Crist, and I don't expect the same production, but our depth at Qb to be the university of Notre Dame is pathetic at this moment. I saw many positives in this game, Armando Allen is a good gutsy player, I liked what I saw on Defense at moments. I thought Harrison Smith missed many tackles, but recovered and played solid later on. I was really surprised how much our own players slipped and slided... Give the Credit to Michigan, regardless of what was up with Dayne, we have to be more productive with the number 2 and 3 QB

I agree. Given the situation of the back QB's not performing very well I really thought it was a no brainer to kick the FG. I cant wait to hear why it was better to go for the TD instead of the FG. The test now is next week and how BK can rally the troops....good luck

I liked how we bounced back, and responded, we have to get the ball to number 3 more early on.

I personally would have kicked it as well. But if Montana throws a Td, we win. But also, if dogs could fly bird crap wouldn't be so scary

The FG before the half didn't matter. Montana didn't give anyone a chance on the throw in the endzone. I wouldn't say our defense is suspect. We made some nice adjustments in the second half but ran out of steam at the end. I have a feeling #16 is going to torch alot of defenses this year. The kid is special. Remember just game #2 with the new Kelly offense. This team is going to be much better at the end of the season then right now and we still nearly won the game. Crist and the recievers need gametime reps. Once everyone is on the same page we'll be just fine. Oh by the way Rudolph Is a monster. Damn.

Well said. At least he had the guts to go for it. It was a high risk/reward call that unfortunately didn't go our way, but one play did not decide this game.

I totally appreciate the point others are trying to make about taking the points in this situation, but I'm sure Coach Kelly weighed his options and decided going for the touchdown was the best option given his circumstances. If it had worked we would be singing his praises right now.

I IN NO WAY BLAME COACH KELLY FOR THIS LOSS.

You can't blame anything on Kelly. All of the Qb's had questionable throws during the game.

I think it's best if we shake it off, and prepare to beat Michigan St in East Lansing.

Yes. I think you (op) put everything poorly, but hidden in all that garbage is one gem of an insight: there should be no such thing as a two quarter head injury. I haven't seen any official word on what happened to Crist yet, but if he was concussed putting him back in the game is a worse and less forgivable decision than anything Ty, Bob, or Charlie ever did during their time in South Bend.

It's impossible to know what the athletic trainers and doctors were seeing.

1. We don't know what happened on the field
2. We don't know what his symptoms were.
3. We don't know what the protocols require of the medical staff.
4. Head/brain injuries are not assessed in the same fashion as a musculoskeletal injury. They take more time...tests are repeated and athletes are monitored.

We have no reason to believe that he was returned with a concussion.

These decisions do not lie with the head coach, nor should they.

...maybe we'll know...but the guy says he has blurry vision in one eye...could be anxiety, poke in the eye, hair gel and sweat in the eye...who the hell knows...your guy says he can't see...what do you do...

its all speculation right now...

Someone mentioned he might have gotten a finger in the eye. Seems plausible, something one could shake off and come back after halftime.
