Allstate Sugar Bowl (SEC champ vs. BCS at-large)
Jan. 2, 2014 -- New Orleans
Projection: Georgia Bulldogs vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Bulldogs have one of the best offenses in the country with nine returning starters, led by four-year starting quarterback Aaron Murray. The inexperienced defense will get better as the season progresses, and the Bulldogs will win the SEC East for the third straight season thanks to a key win over South Carolina in Week 2. With Alabama playing in the national championship game, the Sugar will take the SEC's second-best team.

The Fighting Irish are a deeper and stronger team than last season's edition despite the loss of quarterback Everett Golson and linebacker Manti Te'o. The schedule is brutal as always, as they play six potentially ranked teams, but they do get key games against Michigan State, Oklahoma and USC at home. The Irish will get to 10 wins and grab an at-large bid.

I'll drink to that!

Who's prediction is this? I'll take it regardless, but just curious.

I'd take 10-2 and the Sugar Bowl right now. I wouldn't be ecstatic (I think we have more talent than anyone on our schedule) but 10-2 would be very, very solid.

Yeah. It's pretty tough to be upset about a berth in the Sugar Bowl. Every year's not gonna be like last year.

In Phil Steele's defense, he was one of the few "experts" calling for Notre Dame to win 10+ games last year when everyone else was saying 8-5.

Of course he also seems to think U$C is going to be in the championship (he predicted them vs. Michigan last year lol) so he seems to be hit or complete miss.

Steele last year predicted a USC v. Michigan title game and us to go 10-2? I guess I can see how that'd work but it's a pretty tight rope to walk.

This is never a wise thing to claim, even if you're in OSU's position.

Jerry Palm just did. He left ND of any BCS Game in his Pre-season analysis. He's got 3 ND opponents in the BCS Games, SU, UM, and OU.

ND could beat SU but it won't count against SU in the PAC 12 race. It would help ND in the At-Large race asPalm picks UM and OU as At-Large picks. ND wins in those games could knock out one or both and propel into an At-Large slot or higher.

Don't have time to watch the video, but still want to disagree? Here's Palm's picks:

Orange: Clemson (ACC champ) vs. Oklahoma (at-large)

Fiesta: Oklahoma State (Big 12 champ) vs. Boise State (automatic qualifier)

Sugar: Georgia (at-large) vs. Louisville (AAC champ)

Rose: Stanford (Pac-12 champ) vs. Michigan (at-large)

BCS Championship: Alabama (SEC champ) vs. Ohio State (Big Ten champ)
