the kicking situation could be serious
we saw how important it was in the playoffs last year

This was a bad game; but understandable. We were supposed to win by 5 tds and that kind of mentality seeps into players especially when you have extra time

this game did not worry me except the kicking

I thought nbc always carried the games. It was hard watching rerun games 10 15 years ago and we always had NBC as our network. Im watching USC on our network in primetime isnt that blasphemy
That’s only for home games.

And starting a couple years ago NBC expanded to cover Big 10 games as well.

Too many games like these under Freeman

Denbrock offense lacks and kind of midfield game or crossing routes

Denbrock needs to retire after this year

Team needs to realize every week is a playoff game and style points matter

Does Denbrock not know you can run outside?

We will lose to Pitt on the road without improvement
Now contrast this w/ LSU fans saying “getting rid of Denbrock is what did BK in”

LOL

The offense is a disaster. And the kicking game isn't much better. That was the fewest points scored against BC this year. Pitt beat BC 48-7.

In fairness, we fumbled on a goal line situation that left 7 on the field, we missed 2 extra points and an easy FG. Then we let time run out instead of running up the score. It’s easy to say that when you leave 15 to 19 points on the field the offense didn’t do their job.

We won

Love seeing the Love long TD

The o line went backwards a little bit in the run blocking.

I love Freeman as the head coach but sometimes we just need to take the points. I am glad he has confidence but our execution sometimes can be lacking.

Defense played well

No need to harp on the special teams

We need to play with more discipline. We are constantly getting to many stupid penalties. Some are BS and some aren’t. And with the way the refs are calling penalties on ND the players should be aware of the close calls.

If you're going to have a close one it's best to be the first of a five game stretch. I'll be next week will have a different tone. The by week and all the Freeman to LSU talk caused a lack of focus. Special teams did this last year but were clutch in the playoffs.
Win out and we're in. ND brings too much money and attention.
By the by, when are quarterly exams? That has seemed to generate issues in the past.

It is highly, highly unlikely that anybody on the CFP committee even watched this game. They’re not going to judge ND getting into the playoffs off the eye test of ND vs BC. The stats for this game say ND dominated and were not in jeopardy of losing.

Glad this happened this game. In the past we lose this and rebound in a big way. Now we get this mistake laden game out of the way and have better focus to finish out the season.

Just win, baby…

We won. On the road. By 2 scores. Against a team playing their Super Bowl against us that had nothing to lose.

Yes, we should have won by more.

But, we did win.

They've wrecked our dreams before.

They didn't today.

Everyone loves to point out the 1-7 record. No one wants to talk about how this game is literally the only thing that team had left to play for. And BoB had a pretty good game plan.

Got the dub, teams in front of ND lost, and more still can.

CFP rankings out soon, win out and ND will be in the playoff.
We won’t be jumping anyone who listens to in front of us with this mess. Mistaken for Freeman not to try and add to style points as we needed them badly. Tae Johnson did not need to bend and touch his knee to catch that pop up fly Int. We made so many mental mistakes especially on defense. Coaching was also not good. Hard to pick on Ash except for continued soft play on short yardage situations.
Unless our so called #1 kicker is still hurt I think you have to go with him. Obviously tons of practice in this area plus come up with better two point plays.
Was Grey playing today? Don’t see his name mentioned so had to think he wasn’t playing as he’s usually good for getting burned a couple plays a game against even a lousy team. Not to mention a PI. Moore filled that role today. These guys needs more coaching during the game. They are not mentally sound. KVA and Sneed are stupid. Burnham got screwed and acted like he was guilty. All we can do is start playing up to our potential and quit shorting the bed. Nice punt by Rendell.

Freeman should have had a talk with Tae about this before his INT. Just imagine how different the CFB board would have viewed this if it were a 32-10 win. Shame on Tae. Glad you brought this up because many people are going to discuss the more trivial plays.

IE: "This is going tank our chances. Season's over. ESPN is going to shit on us."

ESPN halftime show of the GT-NCSt game: "Love 94 yard touchdown run. Irish's 6th straight win by double digits."
Yeah this is the extent anyone with any decision making power is going to pay attention to this game.

Also just shameful that Love cut outside on his touchdown run, if BeatSC was in charge he would have cut inside and scored a 14 pointer.

I didn't see one single play and followed all on ESPN play by play but I am still going to pass verdict.

1. The OL is really struggling and Shrauth, Craig cant get back soon enough.
2. Carr started badly but was good for the middle quaters.
3. Burnham got a lot of mentions by ESPN PBP.
4. That 4th and 10 incompletion personal foul by Sneed was unforgivable (even though I havent seen it).
Yeah it was Stupid AF and the facemask by Burnham on 4th down was nonexistent.

We disagree. My concern is letting BC control the game offensively time of possession wise. Hard for the offense to score on the bench. Fumble in the red zone and a missed FG and two extra points and I’m still upset at that opening drive of the second half. Obviously the kickers screwed up, but I thought the offense played ok.
Ok against a defense as shitty as BC is not ok. Offense has little rhythm and lived off a few big plays. Passing game was inconsistent and one dimensional.

I think this was a bit of a case of once again listening to the noise "now that we beat SC, it's a forgone conclusion we win out." Important thing is they found a way to win and hopefully it serves as a wake up call
Wake up to the coaches and someone needs to step into a leadership role.

Unequivocally no.

We may or may not make the playoffs but it will have nothing to do with this weekend and everything to do with (a) us winning out and (b) everything happening that’s out of our control. Beating BC by two vs five scores won’t be a top 100 factor.
Yes it will and sadly it should be.

total pile of horse crap

This game means nothing to the playoff committee

Only fools like you think so

This was a clunker of a game but outside of the kicking concerns nothing important at all

Was at the game. Really weird vibes. The crowd, minus BC’s student section, was probably majority Notre Dame fans. But we played like poo and they had the ball for long stretches and BC is kind of amateur hour in general so the energy was all off.

Meantime it was pretty obvious that they could not run on us, could not throw deep, and could not stop our offense. It was just seven yard passes and mistakes by us that kept the game annoyingly competitive, but the actual outcome never really felt in doubt. Nor, I think, will anyone at the CFP notice or care that we *only* beat BC by 15 (when it should have been 25).

That said if we don’t clean up the kicking game and the penalties we will lose to an actually good team.
