The punishment is perfect. The mods explained their reasoning and it makes sense.
The real punishment is to the rest of us as we have to deal with the ridiculously annoying #freekoon for the next 6 months, just like we had to deal with kuenjha saying #freepat for the past 2 years (at least that had a great resolution though lol).
I think most people will keep the #FreeKoon rhetoric confined to this thread. That's my plan at least. It will be pretty easy to avoid for the posters who are already sick of it (which seems to be a large group).

No it is not. The mods explained it but doesn't make it correct, and far from perfect.
In a showing of solidarity you could sit out for 6 months with him to protest the wrongdoing.

A big time recruiting service has its administrators fed up with some of their posters and their constant personal attacks and unnecessary bantering. One of the admins sent a quick 'grow up' type post so no, that type of stuff is not welcome around most parts to include the paid services and certainly not here.
Its tiresome. People work too hard and view this as a small relief from the outside world. A place to gather and debate, preferably intelligently and respectfully, about various topics but most importantly, Notre Dame.
Fair enough, good post and explanation. People, apparently, take this message board stuff way too serious. But you are right and I understand your point.

Why are you taking this whole thing so seriously? Very hypocritical. I don't understand how you can say that and continue to go on a crusade to save some guy (who you know via a message board) to come back to this criminally serious message board that's filled with a bunch of people who just don't get it. So I ask you, why so serious?
I don't give two shits about his ban. All I'm saying is 6 months is too long. The crime doesn't fit the punishment, IMO. Others disagree, that's cool too...

I agree. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. If it did, he would be banned forever. But here's the thing; what you and I think means NOTHING. The mods are here to police the board and determine punishments. They have made their decision, and they are deserving of our support. So STFU about it, and enjoy the board that the mods have worked so hard to create?

Jimmy (GoshenGipper) was absolutely beloved and was regarded by all as just a great guy. Crazy thing is that I teach at the middle school he attended, so I teach with people who taught him, and others who went to school with him (it's a smallish community). My room is filled with Notre Dame stuff...he would have been in heaven in there lol.
I take the country roads on the way home, and every day I pass a small sign that dedicates a stretch of the road to his memory. I always say I'm going to stop and take a picture of it and post it here for the old-timers to see. Gotta do that this week.
Koon is Qui-Gon Jinn. Killing him has only strengthened his powers within the Force.
Koon is rarely, if ever, the I e personally attacking another poster. It's usually the other way around. Usually the banter with him starts when someone doesn't agree with his opinion. Some posters have a hard time allowing others to have, and express, their own opinion.
I'm not saying Koon was right for what he did, or always innocent. But the majority of the time he isn't the one starting it. I just find your first paragraph odd because to me that often what other posters do to him, not the other way around.

Really nitpicking here, but I think your thinking of Obi Wan???? When Qui Gon died he just died... Until they digitally added him into the ending scene of Return of the Jedi along with Anankin.

That's not true. He was always quick to point out that he was never the aggressor, and so that became the narrative for awhile, but Lax put that myth to bed a few months ago. It was all there in kuenjha's posts.
I even backed him a couple of years ago when Wooly was just killing him in every post. I believed what kuenjha was selling about never taking it to a personal level. Turns out Wooly was right though. Matter of fact, the reason he and I went at it the first time was because he talked shit to me after I said an opinion he didn't agree with. I told him to fuck off after that, because it came out of the blue. So he said he was just joking (a simple "LOL" would have helped convey his tone), but I saw him talk shit to a lot of posters after that. Sure, lots of times it was other people starting it, but he was starting it at times as well.
Pretty much any time I responded to his posts, and I'd be debating his post, not him as a person, he resorted to calling me an old man (LOL, as if I can do anything about being 40 and that would hurt my feelings or something - at least Mike Gundy thinks I'm a man); he couldn't handle a simple debate.
And as Cackalacky clearly stated above, THAT was why he was banned.![]()
