Not a bad day up here. Only +9˚ but clear with little to no wind. Blue skies with crystal, white, light and fluffy snow. I'll take it over 42˚, raining and with a 20 mph wind.

And I miss Duluth. You know how when people retire, they move to Florida? I'm going to be the opposite and move to Minnesota.

The first Thanksgiving I spent in MN ('79, I think) a woman I'd met took pity on my lonely soul (I'd moved here from Miami and had no family within 1200 miles) and invited my to her family get together at the family farm in New Prague, MN, about 45 miles southwest of here.

Good people, good food and good drink. Until I was offered a shot at lutefisk. I tried to be a gracious and grateful guest but I couldn't get within 10 feet of the stuff without gagging! The family had a good laugh and then let this Irishman off the hook by handing me a plate of lefse, smeared with butter and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and a snifter of Brandy.

That I could handle!
