With the new DC, do you think he will bring in any of his guys? I know Weis likes Lewis but what about the d-line?

Another "uptight white coach"?

seriously. yall need to let that crap go. what does it matter what a 17 year old kid said about a coach you dont know who he was talking about. Martez made his choice and if you want to be mad at someone be mad at your self. Between polishdoemr telling this kid to go to hell and to rot in illinois and yall constantly refering to this comment is crap.

Let it go:meditate:

I was thinking thw same thing after I read he was at Hughes' presser. He was one of our best LB's of all time along with Stonebreaker. He would bring lots of passion and I bet he'd be a damn good recruiter especially at the position we so desperately need. Steven Filer should be #1 on our list for next season. You can talk all you want about Floyd and Buckner..... we need Filer in the worst way. He'd start from day one especially if we are going to run a 3-4.

zorich was a nosetackle. and if it's true that he just finished his law degree, he may be going in a different direction career wise, despite the fact that he may be a good replacement for powlus.

I think they just made a job up for Powlus.

And they can make one up for Zorich if they want to...pretty please....make up a job. Heck, call him Charlie's water boy....I don't care. We need to surround our defensive players with people that have the attitude to rip the opponent limb from limb. Zorich has always had that.

I think he would be a good candidate to take over Powlus' old job.

Sorry didn't see the second page.

Even if Weis did create a position for Powlus, he gave him an excellent one that had him directly interact with prospective recruits. Can you imagine Zorich selling ND to recruits, he would have them in pads ready to kill somebody.

Zorich was a fantastic player for the Irish and one that you could tell that really loved being at ND. From a coach and adminstration standpoint, those are the type of kids/players that you want to embrace as part of what you're trying to accomplish.

first and foremost, powlus' job wasn't 'made-up.' there's a lot of administrative work that goes into the oversight and coordination of recruiting visits, events, etc. that said, however, powlus was probably a little overqualified for the job, considering that it could probably have been filled by a talented, motivated grad assistant. that's also the same reason that zorich would likely not fill a position like that. if it's true that he's just finished law school, he's plenty overqualified for the gig.

secondly, whoever does fill the position, be it zorich or somebody else, their focus isn't to 'sell' kids on ND and act as a recruiter. their job is to provide logistical support and assist with non-football and non-coaching needs of the recruits while they're on-campus.

personally, i see Weis continuing to leverage well-known ND alums in the same way that he always has. Coaching at the spring game, attending a recruit's press conference, etc. - all of those things generate excitement and awe for the recruits and the program.

yeah, Parcells is going to come to ND and be an assistant coach. I also heard Bill Walsh, Curly Lambeau, and Hank Stramm were in the mix too

I'm gonna go post this on all the other Irish websites as a credible source mmkay?

I wonder how many different threads I can make, and what titles i should give them...
"Parcells, walsh to ND!!!" "Big Tuna and Charlie Tuna together again!!!" so many possibilities...
