OT: Pac-10 gets the shaft, again!

As in years past, the Pac-10 will once again get the shaft in the BCS this season.

Ohio State and Notre Dame will most likely face off here in Tempe. Fiesta Bowl officials would be nuts not to choose them, as the game promises to potentially get the best television ratings outside the national championship game and bring in a boat load of money.

But the odd team out will once again be Oregon.

The Ducks went 10-1, only losing to USC. They deserve a spot, but won't get it, because Notre Dame and Ohio State sell.

The Ducks will most likely head to the Holiday Bowl to face a middle tier Big 12 team like Oklahoma. At 9-2, UCLA will face a so-so Big 10 team like Minnesota in the Sun Bowl.

Once more, the conference of champions will miss out on a lot of money.

Last season, Texas leapfrogged California in the final poll of the season, taking the Bears place in the Rose Bowl.

In 2002, Oregon, which should have played for the national championship against Miami, instead had to watch the Hurricanes demolish the Cornhuskers after the Ducks destroyed Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl.

It's bad enough missing the traditional Pac-10, Big 10 matchup in the Rose Bowl.

Now we have to see deserving Pac-10 teams completely miss out on the BCS.

UCLA's one loss was an ass kicking to Arizona. Arizona?

And they might get another beating Saturday against the Spoiled Children.

Could their conference president not negotiate better bowl games for the 2nd and 3rd place teams? Oh I forgot......those teams out west, except for SC, don't sell on the east coast. That's such a shame. They could have worked out a better deal than the Holiday Bowl and the Sun Bowl. That's just sad.

EXACTLY.

Look, I think Oregon deserves a BCS game. I really do. West Virginia surely does not. Someone always gets screwed.

Ohio State lost to Texas and Penn State. Oregon lost to SC in a second half rout. ND lost to SC and MSU by a total of 6 points. WVU played Va Tech and got killed.

Everyone has their case. Personally, the two 2-loss teams are better than the two 1-loss teams in my book. But you play who you play and try to win every game.

Arguments can be made for everyone. There are 8 spots to go out and usually more than 8 teams that merit a game.

Keep in mind: Texas vaulted Cal last year. Cal got killed in their bowl and Texas beat scUM in the Rose.

You've gotta back it up on the field.

One positive is they are adding a 5th BCS game starting next year I think. Then the Oregons of the world will still have a chance to get into a BCS game.

As another disgruntled Duck Fan, I'll just sit back and enjoy seeing the Irish once again embarrassed in a big bowl game. I remember the 'whacking' that our cross state rival, Oregon State, laid on the Irish a few years back.

What is today's date? I could have swore it was November 30, 2005.

Can you honestly sit there and say this is the same exact team that has played your cross state rival? If you can, you're not a knowledgable football fan.

Alright, then lets talk about this year. Or even last week.
You escaped dreaded Stanford with a close win.
Oregon thrashed them by 24 points.
Look, we all know why ND is going to a BCS game.
Who has more TV sets? Catholics or Oregonians?

Arizona and Washington State by a combined 10 points for you.

We've been through this with your friends.

ND has a 7 point win against Michigan and Stanford. The rest are blowouts, bad teams or not depending on your point of view.

Oregon has one impressive road win...Arizona State. Which lost to Stanford and is 6-5.

Ahhhhh to hell with the Ducks! Another quack coming over to our board talking about the same nonsense. I'm glad you got a good memory duck. What's that got to with this year though? This is enough of this nonsense. Are those two teams going to lace it up again this year? No. Different team, different year. Why is that so hard to understand? Different duck fan spouting off the same tired sh_t. Enjoy San Diego.....which in German means a whale's vagina. LOL!

Then I'll make it simple for you all:
10-1
9-2.

Enjoy your beating in the Fiesta against whom ever they choose.

Do Ducks have spots?

I digress.

Snubbed Oregon Players to be Sent Autographed Charlie Weis Photos as Consolation

With their spot in a BCS bowl all but given away to Ohio State and a very questionably-deserving Notre Dame squad, Oregon players and coaches learned today of a gift from NCAA and BCS officials that will make them feel better about their unjust snubbing: signed 5x7 color photos of the great Charlie Weis for each and every coach and player.

“We were all extremely distraught when Notre Dame pulled out that game against Stanford on Saturday and we realized they would slip into a BCS game ahead of us simply because they’re Notre Dame,” said Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti. “That sucks and is unfair because we are a superior team and more deserving. But then comes word of us getting a consolation prize of an autographed Charlie Weis photo? Wow, what an honor. That man is a personal hero of mine. Already he’s done some things that no coach in college football history has done, such as leverage a 5-2 record against lousy competition into a 10-year contract extension. That’s simply ingenious, and now I’ll have my very own autographed Charlie Weis photo that I can frame and hang above my desk so I can aspire to be as great as him and his wonderful institution.”

Bellotti is not alone in his excitement about possessing a 100-percent certified autograph of Notre Dame’s legendary head coach in lieu of a deserving birth in a prestigious BCS bowl game.

“Sure, some might point to the fact that our only loss is to the back-to-back defending national champions, USC, whereas Notre Dame has two losses and has only beaten three teams with winning records: 7-4 Michigan, 6-5 BYU and 6-4 Navy,” said Oregon quarterback Kellen Clemens. “Or they might say that it is patently unjust and unfair in the forum of athletic competition to snub a deserving team like us just because some other lesser team will get better television ratings. And I admittedly thought that way. Once. But then I found out I was getting my very own Charlie Weis autographed photo! Charlie Weis! The head coach of Notre Dame! You know, that obese guy who called plays for Tom Brady with the Patriots and was thereby dubbed an unparalleled genius! Him! It simply doesn’t get any better than that.”

Oregon won’t know its true fate until the BCS bowl pairing are announced on Sunday, but many within the program are actually hoping there isn’t some surprise that put them in.

“A bowl game last just three hours,” said Bellotti. “A Charlie Weis autograph lasts forever. That’s something I’ll be able to show my grandchildren every day.”

How are they going to get a beating?

1 = 45-13

2 = 44-41 (OT) and 34-31.

Yeah, those were ass kickings.

What's funny is BOTH teams will end up 10-2.

All hell will break loose if there is an upset or two this weekend.

UGA is going to beat LSU. If FSU, Colorado or UCLA manage to win...look out. There will be a slew of hate coming this way.

Where is BGIF when I need him? If Oregon had beaten SC, would they even be ranked #2 in the BCS and slated to play Texas? Why do I have a weird feeling some one loss team would be ahead of them?

They get no respect. They need to increase their exposure by playing some football teams - some real football teams - east of the Rockies. Maybe then they would get the respect they deserve. until then, they will always be a bunch of crybabies.

Hey Duck, no one wants to watch your team play. Be glad you get the holiday bowl. Your program isn't Notre Dame and no one cares that you're not getting a BCS bid. Our team is better, our coach is better and our school is better. And we always will be.
