I like to tap into my "artist" side from time to time. Anything from making short skits to drawing to making "songs". Any one on here do the same or care to share.

My current favorite thing to do is draw.

Here are a couple samples, nothing too flashy but I enjoy it.

I only bring this stuff up because it is the off season and everyone can only go back and forth about every subject for so long.

Great stuff! I love to draw. I haven't been drawing too much since before the holidays, but I try to stay at it pretty regularly. Like you, I enjoy it and do it for recreation. I went through a phase of a lot of colored pencil, but now I have gotten back in to just graphite black and grey stuff.

I don't have anything currently scanned, but I will upload some of my work tomorrow.

Great pieces. I love the work you have done! Keep up the great work!

Yeah, I have never had a formal class except Freshman Intro to Art in Highschool. I just enjoy the nature of it. It is fun to work on something and at the end of the day it comes out like a picture.

I eventually want to upgrade to painting but I know I still have a ways to go.

But until then I actually have people who want to but pieces from me, I guess if people want to pay for sub par pieces I will supply that to them.

(I am very critical of my own art, it could be immaculate and I will find something wrong)

As someone who can screw up stick figures, I appreciate the talent to draw and/or paint. Good drawings up there, military irish. My artistic outlet (term used very loosely) is writing. I'm putting together a collection of all the ridiculous crap I've experienced at work and trying to turn it into a book.

Here are some more drawings I have been working on. For some reason when I take the picture you can see each stroke but in person everything looks smooth.

I really like the Selena drawing.

I bet you do, perv.

Good stuff, military. I'm a sketcher myself. I'll try to post something up later. I also tie flies flies for my fishing endeveors. I consider it an art as well.

I haven't been by a computer lately and I must have missed anyone responded. Thanks for the compliments and I would love to see any other artwork. It has slowly became a passion of mine. I have never took a class or any training just been winging it. I got a few compliments to I continue to do it.

I write songs. Don't really have much recorded since I actually started investing time into it and taking it seriously...

But there are lot's of not so serious hard rock tunes I was partially responsible for (and not so proud of) that have been recorded.

You only write hard rock songs, or have you explored other genres?

The only stuff I have recorded and performed heavily in a live setting has been hard rock music.

I don't go anywhere near hard rock music nowadays.

I write folk, Americana, alt-country, rootsy rock, blues based rock, lots of stuff...

I'm a member of an acoustic duo that is on hiatus currently...I have performed an original tune with that project a couple times...I think there is a drunk video of me playing it with him on the youtube...
We lack the ability to really spend any time together rehearsing anymore so that project is basically dead...
I've got a big ol' composition book full of original stuff in that vein...

Sorry for the 3 month delay on responding!

Haha delays happen in a non popular thread but I have always liked to "write" music. I at least try anyway.

Have you ever thought of trying to sell any of your written work?

I knew someone who wanted to be a hip hop star. He could write real well but his delivery was never the best. Someone heard his demo, liked the lyrics and now he writes full time for various artist. He does still perform because that was his original passion but it is mostly on the side.

Considering it seems like you don't have much time to play your music yourself, selling them on the side would be a good "side job". Like I do with my art, it's is good to get some extra money outside of your normal job.

I have time to write and perform...but nobody around here seems to!

I also have always had this stigma about making money from music...I love performing music...but I don't like it when bandmates get crazy serious about the business side of things and turn it into 3 rehearsals and 2 gigs a week part time job after I already have a fulltime job. That and band politics drove me away from it for awhile.

If it pays for gas, strings, beer, and puts a little coin in the new gear bank, I'm more than pleased!

I don't know how I would feel about selling my music...IT'S MINE!
haha
Nothing beats a good story song though...that's what brings a twinkle to my eye.

I love doing commissioned work. I draw a lot at work on my down time so people will see, get curious, then eventually ask for a drawing. I have sold probably around 10+ but considering I have a limited audience with just co-workers. That is not to shabby.

I am actually in the process of researching different art festivals for next year that I can apply for and possible elevate my art to another level, in hopes to broaden a "fan" base and possible potential clients.

If you pick out a picture I am sure I could whip something up rather quickly but yet also good quality.

I hear ya on the "its mine" I don't want to sell any of it. When I started getting good at drawing and I had some people ask to buy my work at first I would be hesitant because I like everything I do. I don't want others to buy it haha. But I eventually caved and love selling my work now.

But I know selling art and music are two totally different things. Considering music and it's lyrics usually carry a personal message from the song writer.

I've got tons of new stuff I really should get around to making demo work of to share. It would help with finding a group to play with too.

I'll keep this thread in mind for any completed work!

Be sure to post if you do, would be nice to hear some different music other than everything main stream. Especially someone from IE.

Great stuff. I like to draw as well, but mostly just cartoons. Real life portraits, etc isn't my niche. Never could get the shading down. I'd post a few pics but 1) I don't know how and 2) it'd look elementary compared to the pics you've posted. Keep it up. You obviously have a great talent. You should explore art/design in your career (if you haven't already).
