I've seen the advertisements on Discovery Channel the past few days for this new series. What the heck is this all about? I have grown up in Indiana and was totally oblivious to something like this existing. Can anybody shed some light on it? Regardless, it sounds like an interesting show that I will be watching.

Live in Lancaster....Not real.

What this guy said. I live an hour east of Lancaster. The Amish are known for...being Amish: building their houses, horse and buggies, one room schoolhouses, carving REALLY good wood pieces and charging high prices, and each family having about $400,000 stashed under their mattresses.

Don't hate. Their food is good, too.

Thread of the year nominee.

Surprisingly enough, I wouldn't have expected anything different from ya, RI.

Thanks for the article BGIF, that certainly puts a different perspective on it for me.

Thanks guys. I thought the same thing too, it just seemed like a weird concept. Now I know.

I can't believe what I'm reading. You guys don't believe in the Amish Mafia? It's all fun and games until you hear that carriage pull up.

Said the Amish Milkman, "That is udderly rediculous!"

Ever seen an Amish cheese factory? Usually underground on top of a hill; they eschew refrigeration.

Went to school at Millersville for 4 years, and as you said not real. I can't believe people will buy into this. Such a sad portrayal of the Amish life.

Went to Lancaster Catholic.....partied at Millersville almost every weekend from 01-04. Thought we were bigshots drinking with college kids ha.

"Cows didn't give enough milk? 'F you, pay me.' Crop infested? 'F you, pay me.' Then when it's all done, there isn't any more milk, no more corn, you burn the barn down."

Seriously, when did the Discovery Channel jump the shark? No pun intended.

I went to Kutztown University for a year before the Army, and this isn't accurate. The creepiest thing was on Friday nights we would drive through the cornfields to blaze, and you'd come around a corner and all the kids would be chilling there, out of nowhere, with the girls on one side and the boys on the other. It was some children of the corn freaky ****, especially when you were high.

Never really watched DC but they seem to be reaching lately. I know they are going to air a show on the growers in Northern Ca soon too.
