Very likely IMO, this is Urban indirectly getting his name out there without saying it clearly. He wouldn't take the MSU job IMO, but if he actually interviews (he'll decline), he's telling the CFB world, game on. Is Florida opening back up? Does this give OSU a "well who then" since the heat is turned up on Day?

The intent behind the initial moves are usually veiled.

oh for sure, a middle of the pack program like MSU is always gonna be used as leverage by somebody. If Tucker was actually successful at MSU he would have left in a heartbeat for a bigger job

I also think this is MSU leaking it as well to gauge some public perception

Exactly. It's just a shitty look for them on so many fronts. Meyer crashed out of Ohio State in the wake of a scandal and exposed to the world what a complete ass clown he really is at Jacksonville. You have to question the football side of the hire to some degree in addition to the obvious PR backlash that comes with him.

Elko, Dickert, Huff, Leipold, Klieman, Campbell, Candle. The list goes on. So many candidates out there they could be speaking to instead via back channels.
3 Nattys speaks for itself. Winning matters. If not at MSU, he will be hired in the next cycle..... Perhaps back to Florida.....

Has enough time passed where we can collectively admit Trump was hilarious, or are we still mad without knowing why?
was it all worth it for the memes??
I saw this tweet at the weekend and lol'ed so hard. I feel like there is a Trump soundbite for every situation

I'm going to compare the Urban and MSU situation much like making eye contact across the bar with a good looking lady... she might be making eye contact back to make fun, or figuring out how drunk she is and wants to entertain the idea for a minute. either way at the end of the night the guys going home alone with dreams in the head wonder what if.

MSU needs a Randy Shannon Miami hire right now.

"Clean all this up off the field, don't make us look bad from a PR standpoint, and after four years we'll fire you with a winning record that isn't up to our standards."

Elko, dickert,Leipold, and huff are the top names for a lot of people.. elko might be coaching himself into a bigger job. Dickert isn’t getting paid a ton by Washington state and would be easy to swing over since they don’t have a conference in the future. Leipold has strong Midwest ties and would be great, if he’s willing to turn around another program at 59 years old. Huff is a wildcard. Was a great recruiter at Penn state and Alabama. Was associate head coach at bama before being hired at Marshall. His OC and DC were poached after his first year, showing he can hopefully find good coaching talent. His Marshall team is solid but hasn’t shown drastic improvement under. But still a good team for Marshall’s sake. Only 40 years old. Could have a very high ceiling. But could also have a very low floor. Smith from Oregon state is talked about a lot but is already getting just shy of 7 mil at Oregon state and even though they also don’t have a conference, it is his alma mater and would be a tough pull.. bill o Brian has been mentioned very little, but some. No one in east Lansing wants Shaw. And no one. I’ll repeat NO ONE wants duzzi.

MSU under a lot of metrics is a Top 20 job.

I do not want to see Elko at MSU. That's the worst possible outcome for everyone in the midwest (except MSU). He'd steal enough recruits and he'd return MSU to a disciplined football team with a tenacious defense. He fits the mold of MSU so much that I hate it.

I just want Elko to have a clause that says he'll come to ND if we ever find ourselves needing a coach. I'm that impressed with his football mind. I think he is just a natural born killer. Defensive savant, a little Belichick in his mannerisms but more blue collar.

Hopefully you guys get Narduzzi or Shaw. Good luck!

Would ND and MSU even be going for the same guys? Elko as HC of MSU or not.

I would not be worried. If I was Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois I think I'd probably hit the road a bit harder on the recruiting trail if Elko went to MSU, but if I'm ND I'm doing my business without looking over my shoulder at Michigan State regardless of who their coach is.

He's definitely a quality coach. Smart guy.

I think he could have Dantonio esc success at msu, which Spartan fans would sign up for in a heart beat. I don’t think he would steal away your top targets on the trail, but the flyer high 3star low 4star that is your third option, he could make a little more difficult to get. Like when Dantonio and duzzi offered CBs back in the early 2010s.

All comes down to what kind of staff he puts together. He's had to do it once at Duke. This would be something somewhat different. It would be a test of his reach in terms of hiring assistants.

What a cluster. I have a hard time feeling this wasn’t: a) an excuse to fire a coach not meeting expectations, b) in some way a trumped up ploy by Mrs. Tracy.

I may be wrong, but I smelled this being the case from day 1. Something about the allegations just didn’t make a lot of sense. If you’re going to try something, would you pick a lady with her history doing the job she was doing? I would think anyone reaching his level would see the red flags immediately. I, however, buy this was fully or partially consensual and most likely hit a disastrous end. Can’t say I feel sorry for him. Cheating is never okay.

It does have all the elements for a set up to get out of a contract. That or MSU got really lucky.

In todays world truth is immaterial. Shaping the story/lies to fit your narrative is the game. Nobody has personal responsibility for their actions.

He is going to get some decent money. I think Foley will argue the lack of materiality to negate such an huge contract and that Ms Tracy isn’t part of the University. Plenty for MSU to be worried about. This could go on for a while as Tucker probably won’t get HC P5 opportunities. I think, cynically, that MSU’s AD will give great weight to hiring another Black HC as their grounds to negate such a huge contract doesn’t seem overwhelmingly in their favor.
