I don't think I've ever excused cheating by anyone. I've been rather consistent in my condemnation of it. I'm aware that it's common and that football coaches and politicians and regular Joes do it, but I've never condoned it or excused anyone who did it.

Here is a link to 10 pages of posts where you, for the most part, exhibit unwavering trust in a man who has cheated on all 3 of his wives. I don't even give a fuck about your politics, I was laughing at your hypocrisy.

scUM hiring a coach Utah did not want anymore is delicious.

That said, this really looks like a stop gap to let the scandal die and buy time for a more long term (aka younger) solution.

Agreed. Reminds me when Clemson hired Ken Hatfield to polish up their scandalous reputation after the Danny Ford probation era. It worked.

5 years is pretty standard, or at least, used to be.

While he's a good coach, I don't see how he fits at Michigan. He's a BYU grad and LDS, and he's coached at Utah for 30 years, none of which says "fits well in Whoretown." It's like taking a guy from Boston who coached in the rust belt his whole life and dropping him in, say, the bayou, and thinking it will work out. But nobody would do something that dumb.

I’m really curious as to how Michigan got this guy to unretire and agree to that job. I doubt if it’s the money he must have plenty by now.
Everything I’ve seen about him was how much he loved living in Utah and the outdoor life. His retirement at 66 made sense. Going to Michigan does not.

1) I think he's just not ready to stop coaching
2) He's a good transition HC to get MI cleaned up from top to bottom
3) Likely will only take him 2-3 years to do that so my guess is he won't actually be there for the full 5 years (IMO, the 5-yr deal is more to assure recruits he will be around for a while)

I actually think this is a good hire. He’s still got gas left in the tank at 66. I agree that this was done more to bring stability to the program. I’m not sure how well he’ll do at recruiting, but that’s not the primary concern at the moment.

Not a home run hire. But definitely gets them back on base after striking out with the previous coach and shitting over themselves earlier in the search

Reading various outlets, the buzzword seems to be that he brings “credibility” and “stability”. The more I think about it the more I think it’s going to many short term but I question year 3-4-5… the guy has only known Utah and Michigan is a whole different animal. I feel like and I am hoping he sees this as his blue sky job and just mails it in.
