So in a very outmatched game vs CSU, you pull McNamara for McCarthy even though you said it was Cades showcase game? McNamara is a team captain. He did everything asked of him and more last year. McCarthy lost the MSU game. And I believe 60%+ when Cade was on the field it resulted in points. Weird times. After the Hawaii game McCarthy will be named started.
Cade then tranfers to MSU...
Harbaugh's plan all along was to play both QB's a good amount. He may at some point alternate QB's each quarter. The announcers said it will be similar to when Tom Brady split time with Drew Henson back in the late 90's.

By the way, JJ has some serious speed. Almost Michael Vick level back in his college days.

Why would either stick around for that? Especially Cade.

What? There are a lot of fast Qbs you could point to as comps. Maybe even Trevor Lawrence. Vick was a 4.3 or 4.4 guy.

Lawrence may be a bad comp. Justin Fields.

Yooooo pump the breaks lol.... McCarthy is athletic, but Vick is literally the GOAT when it comes to athletic QBs. He made NFL players look like JV high school guys.

Doesnt matter. I'd rather be in their shoes, they totally control their destiny. Beat OSU and they are atleast #2 in the final CFP. BIG Championship is basically a sham until USC gets there and by that point divisions will be gone.

Eh, if they make it to the playoff somehow again they're probably going to get rolled worse than last year. I doubt they make it past tOSU this year though. Their defense isn't completely incompetent this year.

12-1 Michigan team is not getting into the playoffs. That means they beat OSU and then lost to a lowly team in the B1G championship game. If they go 11-1, they are still out. The CFP just set it up for two SEC teams to be in. They need some chaos to be in with one loss.

Yeah that doesn't make sense. 11-1 definitely means they lost to OSU which means they'll lose that spot, and a 1 loss Michigan won't get in over a 1 loss Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama. And this doesn't even include Clemson and TCU who could very well be undefeated.

Soooooo there's that

a quality loss over 4-4 Rutgers wouldn't be enough?

Harbaugh flirted w/ an NFL gig in the offseason. Didn’t get it. Went back to scUM like everything was fine. Initially, I thought they would experience recruiting issues & even on-field setbacks due to lack of morale b/c their HC basically showed he wanted out of there. Now they’re a CFP contender & the future is bright.

When BK flirted w/ the NFL after 2012, all hell broke loose and it took ND until 2015 to get a respectable product on the field. WTF?

Michigan's future is bright? Michigan's recruiting is in shambles. They only have 3 guys in the top 200 ON3 rankings. It may not even be a top 30 class by signing day.

Meanwhile ND is sitting on a top 3 class with a good chance to finish top 5. We have 5 players in the top 100, and another 8 in the top 200. By the way, probably half of our class was recruited by Michigan.

Michigan is having a good season because it didn't start until the 5th game against a .500 Iowa team. Their only good win is against Penn State who has 0 wins over ranked opponents. Let's not get carried away here.

Really? I think OSU smacks the shit out of them. They are pissed about last year and the year before when UM "was too sick" to play.
Yes, Really. From what I have seen of both this far, I'll take Michigan in Columbus this year.

If Ohio State is still "pissed" about what's happened in the past, they're punk ass snowflakes.

They're going 13-0 and will get served in the semifinal.
I agree. Their schedule blows but I think back-to-back wins over their nemesis erases all that. I think ND fans who hate scUM don’t understand that the avg CFB fan will judge them on going undefeated w/ win over OSU vs critiquing every opponent on their obviously weak schedule which has served as a nice run up to their big rivalry game.

No, that’s the perception…which to average CFB fans is reality. Now I understand that scUM haters want to dissect every opponent to prove that it’s all a facade but if they beat tOSU, you’re not changing the perception regardless of how much u rant about their weak competition & horrible recruiting (which I’ll take your word for that it’s in shambles).

My overall point is that when BK flirted w/ the NFL, ND followed that up w/ two very average seasons vs an average schedule.

The 13-0 Big Ten Champion isn't getting passed over. I don't care who it is.

I have the ability to look at Michigan, dislike them, but not ignore what is blantantly obvious and or true. This goes back to the fight thread with Michigan State as much as it pertains to the discussion here too.

Ohio State's out of conference slate is Notre Dame, Toledo and Arkansas State. Their best win right now is Penn State, a team coached by a man that doesn't win a big game more often than not.

I think they lose on their way to OSU.

I also think Corum gets hurt or tells UM to ease off. Hate to be insuring this guy, he’s averaging about 30 carry’s per game since the conference schedule started.

Agreed & I’ll take it one step further as much as I dislike scUM & Harbaugh…Meatchicken is better than Clemson IMO. I’d love to see them play on a neutral field. I’m not confident to bet money on it but if you put a gun to my head and I had to pick straight up…I’d go with Michigan. I give them the edge w/ their OL.

scUM doesn't get past the Buckeyes 2 years in a row. Buckeyes have looked better against common opponents, they've played a tougher schedule, and it's in Columbus. I don't see it happening short of an injury to Stroud or something.

100%

I think it will be a very good game if they both do their part in the next couple of weeks. Michigan has to host Illinois the week before, which could play a part in how they play the following week in Columbus.

Michigan plays no one of note OOC next year either. It needs to be held against them considering their conference is also soft outside of Ohio State and sometimes Penn State.

ND will finish the year playing Ohio State same as Michigan, and then four teams that are all comparable/better than Michigan's next best opponent. So HALF of ND's is roughly harder than Michigan's *second toughest* opponent. That's lunacy.

That’s a recipe for a top10 finish. It might be boring and almost seem criminal but as a program they know playing nobody’s all season long guarantees them to be in the top10 (if they win the game they are supposed to), it keeps all the negative news out, and they are one game away from the CFP. With the new format they will make the playoff every year with that schedule. I could see programs dumbing things way down to ensure they are in.
