They are clearly implementing the “Obama Plan”… say whatever the heck we want to make ourselves look good as the average American pays no attention and the powers that be won’t call us out on it.

What the mailer fails to point out is that only a small portion of that money is guaranteed and it is highly likely that most of that $51M will never be paid to these guys. To further that point, there is a strong likelihood that more than one of those players will be broke within 4 years. Saban can sh*t in his hat.

I'd love to come back to this topic in about 10 years and compare the avaerage salary of the best 9 ND players last year versus the 9 Bama players listed.

Weis also sold a bunch of top recruits on NFL success, so ND's hands are hardly clean when it comes to this tactic.

My only complaint is that it's seriously misleading. But such is major CFB recruiting.

To me, the Alabama mailer just confirms what we already knew - some schools don't give a flying **** about moral/ethical standards when it comes to winning football games, while others know how to do it the right way. I'll gladly take the right way (40 year decision) any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Also, if you are swayed by propaganda such as this mailer, that's also a reflection on you too - i.e., short sightedness and not grasping the big picture.
