Very surprised by the margin. 22 of 28 1st place votes for Cabrera. Not shocked that he won, but I did not expect that wide of a margin.

Wrong choice. Trout clearly deserved it and Cabrera got a lifetime achievement award.

I know it sucks when your guy loses(mine lost as well) but if they just gave it to the guy with the higher WAR they would call it the WAR award. They got it right IMO. What he did in that ballpark was freaky.

WARNING: BITTER SOUNDING RANT TO FOLLOW...

I get it. I'm not mad that cabrera is the MVP...Triple Crown is an amazing accomplishment that we may not see for a very long time. However, I do not agree with the fact that 22 of the 28 voters saw it that way. Fact of the matter is for those that use the "team made it to the playoffs" tiebreaker, Cabrera's team had less wins than Trout's and would've finished 4th in the AL West and finished with the 6th best record in the AL...Trout missed the first month of the season and his team was markedly better because of it...Yes, Cabrera's team made it to the playoffs...In those same very playoffs, he batted 65 pts lower than his season average with only 2 hrs in 49 abs...I did in fact say earlier that I could see either he or trout winning and be ok with it...but for him to have won so handedly doesn't make sense to me...Congrats Big Cat, but next year, Trout is going to be the better catch

Especially since ESPN kept saying how 'hotly contested it was' and their writers had Trout winning in a landslide.

Definitely taking away from their credibility...

Trout isn't my guy, he just had the better year. He had a better WAR like was mentioned, but he also was a way better fielder, a better base runner, better OBP, significantly better BABIP, and was even more clutch. Trout was just better in 2012. He was on the team with the better record and if he played all year they would have easily been a playoff team.

How is them giving what they would do if voting for the award taking away from their credibility??? I'm assuming you are refering to today's article on who they would take...My apologies if I got you wrong in advance...

Trout didn't clearlydeserve it, yeah he had a shout at it but to say he clearly deserved it is a bit over the top. I'd hazard to guess that the majority of voters aren't exactly WAR guys either. I think the most of them are pretty traditional guys that were wowed by a Triple Crown (rightly so in my opinion).

I think it would be interesting to see the ESPN/public reaction if a Yankee won the triple crown (which one, I have no idea). For some reason ESPN thinks if someone does something, it's not as big of a deal as if someone accomplished the same feat in NY or LA.

It sounds like your saying the Angels were better when he was not there

At least he had those 49 AB. Plus it is such a small sample to use numbers wise.

but next year, Trout is going to be the better catch

Trout better be able to make adjustments. Pitchers will figure him out. Plus why did he move to left field late in games? Defensive purposes.

To Respond to scUM Hater..

Trout missed the first month of the season and his team was markedly better because of it...

It sounds like your saying the Angels were better when he was not there

Typo...meant his team was markedly better once he got there...we did in fact have the worst record at the time of him being called up...

At least he had those 49 AB. Plus it is such a small sample to use numbers wise.

Let's say this were football...if a player ran for 2500yds and played for a team in the NFC West the year the div. champ went 7-9, would that player be more deserving of someone putting equally guady numbers but his team finishes 9-7/10-6 but doesn't make the playoffs??

but next year, Trout is going to be the better catch

He moved over there when they would sub for Trumbo because bourjos is a good defender and more accustomed to playing CF...so yes, it was for defensive purposes yet I don't see what your argument was there

If he was a true MVP he would no way be moved to left field. Even if bourjos is accustomed to center field.

I will admit that Trout is a hell of a player. I just want to see him do it for the next couple of years.

And yes, my Tigers got Hunter.

The Tigers were the best team in the AL (remember they made it to the World Series?) and Miguel Cabrera was the best player on that team.

wait so a player that is most valuable to his team is one that refuses to do what is best for the team????

Nope, Cabrera willingly moved to third base when told of Prince Fielder acquisition. Maybe my point there wasn't very strong.

Just trying to understand your point... it's a good thing that Cabrera moved for the team, but a bad thing that Trout did the same?

anyway, congrats to MC... I am taken by the margin, but not the result... I would say the same if it were reveresed.

No, I admit him moving positions during games was a very weak point. I will recant that statement,

'My Guy' won so this will be completely biased. LA would have most likely finished where they did without Trout, the Tigers would have been so much worse without Cabrera. He carried them to a division win, and into the playoffs. He was the More Valuable Player to his team

Yeah of course, which is why the Angels had one of the worst records in baseball when Trout wasn't on the team and had one of the best when he was.

The Tigers weren't the best team in the AL. They just played the best for a 12 game stretch in October. The Angels were a better team for a majority of the season, and Trout was their most valuable player.

And Cabrera was with his team the whole season, made the Playoffs, and in the Playoffs beat the team who won the division LA was in.
