One night back in '66 about 20 of us stood around a small TV with rabbit ears (ask you great grandparents) watching groaning spelled out blows, "POW!" and "WHAM!" take out arch villains. There were also insightful pearls of wisdom, such as, "You can't put an old head on young dshans, er, hippies."

Last night Adam West was called to The Big Bat Cave In The Sky to join such immortals as Batgirl, Yvonne Craig, Alfred, Alan Napier, Kato, Bruce Lee, The Riddler, Frank Gorshin, The Joker, Cesar Romero, Black Widow, Tallulah Bankhead (who was my wife's great aunt), The Penguin, Burgess Meredith, Catwoman, Julie Newmar, Egghead, Vincent Price, Mr. Freeze, George Sanders/Otto Preminger, Chandell and Harry, Liberace, Lord Marmaduke Ffog, Rudy Vallee, and a host of other notable actors, comedians, singers, and directors including Milton Berle, Ethel Mermen, Shelly Winters, Carolyn Jones, Van Johnson, Art Carney, Michael Rennie, Anne Baxter, and Ida Lupino. There were a lot of Oscars, Emmys and Tonys winners that appeared in Batman's 3 seasons.

He was needed in Heaven to stop the Joker (Romero), Penguin (Meredith) and the Riddler (Gorshin).

Goodbye Adam, and yes, we all remember the Batuci.

In 1970 when Sean Connery and Cubby Broccoli were feuding, Adam West was offered the Bond role in Diamonds Are Forever.

West along with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds all turned the role down as they thought Bond should remain a Brit.

It was 3:55. . . . We were working the day watch out of homicide. A young non-binary hippie with an old binary head approached our vehicle at the Northwest corner of Wilshire and Veteran muttering a myriad of complaints about designated bathrooms and gender triggers. I had to interrupt ...

The Awesome Batman Tribute Adam West Is Getting From The City Of Los Angeles

The good citizens of Los Angeles will get to honor Adam West in a way that befits his status as an iconic Batman. On Thursday night, the Bat-signal will be lit and projected onto the tower of Los Angeles City Hall. Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck will do the honors, and they'll be joined by a number of mysterious "Bat-guests," who will hopefully include folks like West's former Batman '66 co-stars Burt Ward and Julie Newmar.

While the Bat-signal lighting is a tribute to Adam West's death, the event isn't going to be a somber affair. In fact, fans who show up to attend the lighting in person are being encouraged to dress up in their best Bat costumes and don their favorite utility belts. The action will kick off on Thursday, June 15 at 9 p.m. PT at Los Angeles City Hall.
