My darkhorse is Tae Johnson. I think his instincts are well above average and his size, speed, and tackling are already elite. He has the potential to be better than Watts (don't expect that, but the traits are there).

Moore, Carr, Jagusah I think are all locks to be first round picks.

It’s going to take a hell of a season for Jagusah to be a first round pick. Even if he has that talent, it’s going to take a lot of faith to get him there still.

If you get labelled as injury prone, it is a hard one to shake, and will be meticulously brought up during the pre-draft process.

A broken arm and a torn pec in back to back seasons are troublesome for a prospect coming into the NFL, especially as an OL.

"The "Parcells 30 start rule" refers to Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells' stringent guidelines for evaluating college quarterback prospects, emphasizing experience and production, with one key metric being that a QB should have started at least 30 college games, alongside criteria like being a senior, a graduate, and achieving specific win/completion/ratio stats"

Considering who his grandpa was, I bet he knows this rule. I doubt Carr will struggle for money staying in ND. I think he will stay two more years
Parcells is an out of touch dinosaur at this point, and his 30 start rule is pretty arbitrary. I doubt Carr, or anyone else who matters when it comes to selecting a QB, puts much stock in that.

I was thinking the same thing, but after hearing how its ND pushing for the Jerrard reclassification, it seems like the coaches, who are obviously closer to the situation, do not see it the same way.
Even if Jerrard reclassifies, taking over as redshirt sophomore (two years in the program) aint that bad

I think the coaches are pushing for Jerrard to reclassify because they know Carr is likely gone after the 2026 season, and they want Jerrard to be ready to go in 2027. If Carr doesn't leave after next season, that probably would mean his 2026 season didn't go as well as he hoped (injury, no title, and/or no Heisman).

But this rule has been pretty consistent. Look at the top qbs in the nfl. All have 30+ college starts. Getting reps and playing time is absolutely critical at that position

I'm as bullish as anyone on next year, but both a title and Heisman are less than 50% probability. I doubt Carr or the staff is planning on those (despite hoping and believing--we have a great shot).

But Mahomes only started 29 games in college and Josh Allen only started 27! Kidding aside, yes experience is a plus. I just don't think 30 college starts is as important now as it may have been in the past. If Carr was draft eligible right now, do you think any NFL teams would be deterred from drafting him because he's only started 12 games? I think he'd be QB1 in this upcoming draft.

Check out our schedule next year. If we go undefeated and Carr improves even slightly on this year's stats/performance, I think he wins the Heisman. As far as a title goes, I like our chances enough to put some $ on it.

I think it is much moreso correlation than causation -- if you are going to be an NFL starting quality QB, you probably were good enough to start for 2-3 years in college. Some pretty notable exceptions, most glaringly Patrick Mahommes, but overall bust percentage is higher with fewer than 30 starts.

Idk if either of those would matter if he has a great junior season. Broken bones happen. Torn muscles happen. If he had blown out his knees or something I would agree with you

I would think running backs all over America would be tripping over themselves to get into the program.

I believe running backs are under evaluated. Yes five star running backs do pan out at a good rate, but look at the way the three stars really flourish sometimes that’s because they were under evaluated, sometimes they’re playing behind a kick ass offensive line, sometimes it’s they have a good play caller/play designer and sometimes it’s all of it combined.

In general though, I agree with you, if I was a running back and saw the success the running backs at Notre Dame were having it would be high on my list as well. However, I would probably say that maybe 40% of the Highly rated running backs want to play school.

Under
Moore 80% (could get Ben Mo'd)
Carr 55% (feel like this a generous percentage)
Shuler 25% (Talk about him leaving this year, could play himself into consideration if ND goes deep)
Jagusah 15% (Scouts love him, but yeah....)
Traore 5% (Will he break out?)
Lambert 5% (5 star recruit, could be the focal point of the line play next year w/o Billy/Wagner and if Jagusah doesn't pop)
KVA 5% (Huge talent but huge injury)
Tae 5% (Rangy long dude who is known to ND fans but could get on a lot of scouts radars when they're watching Moore)
Agree on the under, but Moore has a better chance of being a top 3-5 pick than he does of falling out of the first round IMO barring injury.

Only way Moore isn’t a first round pick is if he’s injured. He’s longer, taller, and faster than Ben Morrison. Only reason he doesn’t have the same amount of interceptions is because teams barely ever dare to look his way.

If Moore were in this draft he'd be a lock for a top 10 pick unless somehow he's wildly less athletic on testing than every moment of his college career would indicate.

Loy still thinks ND is team to beat in the end here, but UGA is the team to beat right now, whatever that means
Well
According to II ND is not wanting to drop too much money on an RB transfer this year
So, let's take all that Love money for Spell

He committed to Penn State so early that you have to believe his heart is there. Had Franklin not been let go he probably never would’ve looked around. If the new staff proves something I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he ends up back there.

Eric Thomas said there’s some “moving parts” to this recruitment and there should be some clarity early next week whatever the hell that means.
