“I do not expect Notre Dame to be the choice unless something unexpectedly changes tonight.

My best guess would be Auburn, but I’m still digging on it.”

Reads as though ND moved on/bowed out IMO

How so? Sounds like he chose a different school unless ND can change his mind, to me.

I don’t think you pick Auburn if you’re this kid unless they paid hundreds of thousands more than the next highest bidder, which certainly is possible.
Maybe he’s squeamish about the depth chart. ND is loaded up with tackles and he, like me, may see guard in his Irish future.

It’s less than 12 hours out and we’re just finding out the expected favorite is not gonna be the choice, we don’t know the choice, but think it’s likely the school everyone would have pegged as 4th out of 4.

Agent probably wanted a godfather offer. ND choose not to. Good for Auburn if so. We did similar for Olu.

LVB is undoubtedly a great prospect (especially at guard) but certainly closer to Halter than Olu.

Auburn is sitting in mid May with only 2 4 star commits and only one (87 rated) OL commit. Very likely they overpaid out of desperation and played up the playing time big time. What are you gonna do.

Final OL spot still needs to be a dude, not a Flanigan / Hill type project.

You don’t need 5 OL when you took 6 last class try landing Simien if not throw that money somewhere else

Problem is right now we have four, and two of whom, Flanigan and Hill, will never play here. If we don't land Simien, for whom we are running third at best, we have no other prospects for OL.

Disappointing, but ultimately ND landed the higher caliber tackle prospect in Olubobola. Would have liked them both and I'm not trying to cope here, but that's how recruiting goes.

Viewed through a positive lens, this gives ND more money to double down on Albert Simien and try to pull that out down the stretch.

The reality is that guys like Simien, Fakatou and Henderson are going to cost serious cash. If ND is going to try to pull one or more of them, and compete for Parks, Sesay, Fox, Gayles, Howard and a possibly re-classified Evans, they'll need every dollar they can get.

Give me a foundation of...

QB: Champ Monds
RB: Lathan Whisenton
RB: Isaiah Rogers
WR: Julius Jones Jr
WR: Jackson Coleman
WR: Osani Gayles OR Myles McAfee
TE: Titus Hawk
OL: Olu Olobubola
OL: James Halter
OL: Jackson Hill
OL: Richie Flanigan
DE: Abraham Sesay
DE: Aidan O'Neil
DE: Jackson Vaughn
DT: David Folorunsho
NG: Brayden Parks OR Tyler Alexander
LB: Amarri Irvin
LB: Sean Fox OR Roman Igwebuike
CB: Xavier Hasan
CB: Ace Alston
S: Pheonix Evans
S: Zayden Gamble
NB: John Gay
LS: Sean Kraft

Then recruit the following players until the Earth's end... Even if they commit elsewhere.

OL: Albert Simien
LB: Kaden Henderson
DE / DT: Marcus Fakatou
TE: Malik Howard

If they really want to add another OL not named Simien, a couple options might include circling back to Starcevic and upping his offer, or taking a longer look at someone like Dominic Black out of Tri-Village in Ohio, or Caleb Johnson out of Noblesville in Indiana.

Makes the loss of Wagner sting extra. I'd be much happier if the class ended with Olu, Halter, Wagner, Hill, Flanigan.

Wagner is not a huge loss, IMO. With the way ND recruits OL (can't look at this class in a vacuum) he likely never plays meaningfully at ND. While guys will leave early, with the following names ahead of him, good luck...

Will Black (4 years of eligibility)
Guerby Lambert (3 years of eligibility)
Matty Augustine (4 years of eligibility)
Grayson Mckeogh (4 years of eligibility)
Olu Olubobola (4 years of eligibility)

That's not even counting guys like Gregory Patrick (4 years of eligibility) and James Halter (4 years of eligibility) who might very well be able to play RT as well... Nor does is factor in the inevitable studs that ND will be after in the 2028 cycle as well, one year behind him.

This combined with the Auburn bucks. Still a headscratcher why the heck you would go to Auburn for anything other than being a part of .500 team but I guess maybe be in the stud on a.500 team?
