So you’re gonna rely on 3 guys with zero experience? And one gets hurt and your depth is shit. You should def go get another TE
There will be 6 TE on the roster next year assuming no attrition.
Flanagan
Flanigan
Larsen
Washington
Premer
Fryzel
Normally I wouldn't count on freshman but those 2 are ballers. We're fine.

Check out highlights from this game, this dude is a force . Almost comical meanstreak on some bodyslam blocks. Also outruns everyone

In the first play, the OLB had an open shot and was too afraid to hit hit him. Did everything he could to avoid him the rest of the play...

They’ll flex Will Black out there. You’ve been pining for him to play every role since he stepped on campus so why not. Oh sorry, he also has no experience. Because w him it’d be ok.

We’re only in a good spot if Flanigan with an I is ready to start and play big minutes. I think he has great potential and I’m slightly shocked he’s not getting any PT this year.

Flanagan and Washington are blocking TEs, Larsen isn’t good, and you can’t expect true frosh to be physically ready. So flanigan is key for having a good pass catching te

By no means am I saying I think not having a stud is good. But with the allocation of resources ($) we have to realize some positions are going to take a hit. On offense, it may be TE next year. Would rather protect and give Carr WRs. Heck, even someone like Wagner may be someone you have to have a tough convo with

Good thing is we aren’t having to spend on a QB transfer and J Loves money can get allocated somewhere else. WR is gonna be important especially considering no one knows what Greathouse is doing.

Hopefully Admissions allows them to bring in more undergrads. Next year's grad transfer DT market looks really bad.
Too early to tell with that tbh.

Coaches getting fired and then there's still a month and a half of the regular season left. A lot can happen in 40-50 days.

Fair point, and I agree on Wagner. He's by far our worst olinemen. Knapp had a bad first game obviously but has been playing much better. I'm not sure Wagner has had a good game. He's really struggled.

Agree that WRs are critical but we also see how short yardage is, and having TEs that can block and catch is huge. We only have 1 this year that's why we keep trying to block LBs and kick out DEs with WRs (including walk on wrs).

Fair point about short yardage. With Wagner, we could have too many OTs. We could put Jagusah there, Black, Knapp, Lambert, Interior could have Sully, Craig, Otting, Schrauth (?)...at some point some decisions will need to be made

My concern is 3 of 4 returning guys reportedly have blocking as their primary skill, and the other (Larsen) isn't setting the world on fire. Blocking's great, of course, but it could be an extremely rare year where we don't have a great receiving threat at TE. And when I say extremely rare, we might have to go back decades.

Cooper Flanagan is a two way guy when healthy. Not sure if he’s in your count but he should be.
