So this is a 5 star major pickup. Likely worth far more points than Dante Moore, P Bowen, or Knight would’ve ever put up at ND.

There was a time not too long ago, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that kickers/punters were on a different ranking system and the best were 6 stars?

The first kick was super questionable, had a bunch of hook on it. I think at least 4 out of 7 extra points looked to have some hook. All we really need is for him to be able to consistently hit field goals inside of 40 yards, I expect he will be tested against Pitt.

Not to mention kicking at Heinz is always sort of an adventure unless you’re Chris Boswell.

The first one was by far the worst. He definitely didn’t strike it “right”. They had a camera shot of Freeman right after the made extra point that showed he wasn’t very happy.

I actually thought Freeman’s concern on that was about the low/shitty snap but could be wrong. I would think in that situation MF is just patting Schmidt on the back for getting it through the uprights period and maybe trying to build some confidence.
