If he doesn’t come out and deny this then we should have him stripped of commitment status on this thread. Let’s not get played like Bowen played us.

I could easily see Oklahoma getting to 7-8 wins for sure. There's a few teams they could still trip over. They've got Cincinnati, who doesn't have Fickell anymore but could probably still be decent. Who knows what's going on with Iowa State and Oklahoma State, both struggled last year but could be better. BYU started strong last year, then fell off after they faced us. West Virginia is garbage. Texas and TCU should crush them again. They should handle Kansas, SMU, and Tulsa. Arky State is a gimmie.

Singer says that he expects a de commitment to happen soon. He didn’t get into specifics, such as what Thune alluded to on the OU boards, but he said that Roberts went quiet on the ND staff today.

All the best to the kid! I any blame anyone for staying home and I don’t think we’ll have any trouble finding a replacement at TE.

This is where I'm at too. Kid wants to stay home, so be it. Don't draw it out...just move on. ND should have absolutely no probably finding another TE (or two).

Would never wish ill on a kid who chooses Home State U.

And with our ability to recruit TE, just not really bothered by it. Best of luck to him.

Maybe Thune was right and they were only taking 1 tight end. Just wasn’t him.

Also, the commitment was obviously unnecessary in hindsight. But the kid decommitted before the start of his Junior year. Not exactly dragging anyone along.

A few funny things about this;

A) The fact Roberts alleges the ND staff quit recruiting him & ignored him…
He committed two months ago & a month ago they were communicating & Roberts himself was tweeting at ND & recruits.
Then fall camp started. How long could they have ignored him? A week?
Brings me to my next point…

B) He was communicating with OU way longer than that. According to OU sites themselves, OU was in constant contact with him going back 6 weeks.
Which leads me to my next point…

C) He’s not decommitting from ND and opening his recruitment up, like you would do if you felt you were wronged. He is flipping, which means he was planning on going to OU for weeks.
Which leads me to my final point…

D) Kid is lying & immature for blaming ND.
If he doesn’t want to go to ND, or wants to go to OU, cool. No problem.
But he made up a lie to make ND look bad as the reason. His timeline of events don’t line up with his own actions.

Also, the family and others close to him who used to talk openly to ND media are A) Lying to ND reporters or B) Not responding to any ND reporters.
Shows the character of that family.

That's an interesting point. Kid claims staff ignored him. Assuming they just quit talking to him right after commitment...dude committed basically 6 weeks ago, not even 2 months. How much constant validation do you need? Might have dodged a bullet with that one.

If character issues are a thing with him and his family, he'd certainly fit in well with that team/staff/beat/fan base.

Never one to dump on a young person's character or integrity on a public online forum...as I would suggest as probably good advice for everyone here. We are found pretty quickly in the right google searches and have had a history of family of recruits and commits on our site. I suggest you always talk like that person or someone that cares about them might be in the room.

I think it stinks if Nate is moving on from the Irish and especially so quickly after a commitment, but I do think it would be better early than later.

Oklahoma gets a lot of kids like this. Will be interesting to see how that plays out on the field.

How about this;

Nate Roberts, who committed to ND, now will not speak to ND’s coaches.

Nate Roberts, who did interviews on ND sites, now will not speak to ND sites.

Nate Roberts’ family, who did interviews with ND sites, now will not speak to ND sites.

People in Nate Roberts’ camp, who were the sources in his recruitment, who spoke regularly with ND sites, now claim to those ND sites who knows?

Nate Roberts, who committed just over 6 weeks ago, was tweeting about ND, at ND coaches & recruits, just a few weeks ago, but says ND hadn’t communicated with him a month ago?

Nate Roberts, who committed to ND just over 6 weeks ago, started communicating with OU 6 weeks ago.

Nate Roberts, tells OU sites he is decommitting from ND because they wronged him, yet he isn’t opening his recruitment, he is immediately committing to OU.

Before Nate Roberts committed to ND, the ND staff told him they were taking 3 TEs in the two classes. If they got Carter Nelson they would take only 1 TE in 25. If they didn’t get Carter Nelson, they would take 2 in the 25 class.
Nate Roberts, now looking ti flip to OU, is lying to OU reporters telling them ND lied to him.

Nate Roberts wants to go to OU, so he is blaming ND instead of taking responsibility for his own decision.

Nate Roberts started communicating with OU immediately after committing to ND, then decided he wants ti flip to OU, ghosts the ND staff, lied to OU sites about ND’s treatment of him, ghosts ND reporters who actually put him & his family on their show, & is going to flip to OU without talking to ND staff.

Now, each of you can decide to yourself privately how you feel about this.

None of this would matter to me if not for the lying about ND & dragging ND through the mud when ND can’t legally respond & defend itself.

Throughout recruiting we have to remember that ND is recruiting 15, 16, 17 year old kids.

In reading how Roberts is describing his recruitment with ND- I don't want the kid here.

There are kids that get ND and I want those kids. Venables seems to be up there as a prime negative recruiter and if he wants to play for that type of coach- have fun.

I cannot wait until OU joins the SEC, Welcome to the Jungle.

This article suggest OSU is also pushing for Roberts:

This isn’t the first or last time something like this has happened and won’t be the last.

As much as some might think a teenage boy can impact the reputation of ND, that’s not happening. The coaching fraternity is small and they know what’s real and what isn’t.

All great points. Thank you. Three points

1)Fuck him
2)Fuck his family
3)Fuck Oklahoma

Otherwise I completely agree

I'm leaning more towards Thune being full of shit because....well, he often is.

I think it's as simple as the kid realizing he wants to stay close to home and has a good program near him.
It’s both.

Thune is full of shit.

And…

Nate Roberts (and his family) not handling this correctly.

This actually made me laugh.

Kudos.
It was 95% in jest. But also in the age of everyone wants to get paid by nil or monetize their facey space account, the line of these are just average joes and teens means nothing to me. If you want me to respect your decision then behave in a way that warrants respect.
