He looks like the typical 5/3 swing DL. I don't think we'd want him to play NT at 300 lbs. Likely lose the athlete.
His genetics are worth the risk IMO.He weighed 300 lbs when he stepped on campus. Again, for every joe alt there's countless people that don't get the size or keep the athleticism. Look at Wagner.
I don't think Gordy is a bad prospect, it just seems bad when you combine him with the two other reaches we have this class on the DL.
Makes no sense to bring in multiple guys at same size (6'5 240lbs) who are too small for DT and not athletic enough for DE!! They offered 1~5 star, 3~4 stars, and like 8-3 stars. At some point you have to bring in multiple 4 star guys and a 5 star and not let Georgia, Texas and Bama continuously get them all.Not big enough for DT, too slow for DE pipeline continues

Driskell said that they kept this recruitment quiet because they thought he was about to blow up.
I was hoping that was tge case.
My manIf he fills out like Dad, he’ll be fine. If he takes after Mom, he’ll be playing for Martin at Miami in ‘26.
BTW… Mom alert! She’s not RVB level but she’s a dime.
Not "let" them get them all? I'm sure Freeman and co. were just turning down interest from 5 star d-lineman left and right.Makes no sense to bring in multiple guys at same size (6'5 240lbs) who are too small for DT and not athletic enough for DE!! He also said he didn't know anything about his recruitment until about a week ago and his commitment took him by surprise, so I don't think he's that dialed in.Driskell said that they kept this recruitment quiet because they thought he was about to blow up.

Like safety before, I don’t know what the plan is at DE. They lucked into a legacy DE last year, and got a big-time local one in Burgess in 2025, but there’s so many easy swings on kids who’d be great bottom of the class talent. If you want to criticize the recruiting, it’s that this is the kind of kid who should be a depth piece, not a building block.
But he has the tools to devop, for sure. He’s big and fast and has pedigree.

It wasn't that quiet. BobbyMac started this thread 3 weeks ago - 2 weeks before Driskell said he even knew the kid was being recruited - and he said, "something seems to be moving here" so he knew ND's interest was high while Driskell had no idea.Hence the staff keeping the recruitment quiet.
Ironically, he was so busy fuming about Al Washington that he didn’t notice the new reason for him to fume over Al Washington developing in the background. It wasn't that quiet. I guess if he's meeting the standards of the people who deem him fit to be employed, we gotta roll on and roll out.I can only speak for myself but he most certainly could. Up to this point, he just isn't doing a very good job of it.
Sometimes coaches are a better position coach or coordinator or head coach, one doesn’t guarantee success in the other. Unpopular opinion but I felt all along freeman would be a better head coach than coordinator (thought he did average at best in 2021 and Luke really drove the D at cinci). Hopefully this is the year freeman takes off.I guess if he's meeting the standards of the people who deem him fit to be employed, we gotta roll on and roll out.
He was close to the BC HC job.
They’ve been recruiting him for a while without offering. Notre Dame Boy over there is recruiting him at TE.Kid is going to be good, will not be shocked if OSU makes a run at him this year
I don't think so, is he even on the AAU Basketball circuit? From what I heard he is not very good at basketball.
Hopefully he is done with basketball now so he can start putting on some more healthy weight.
Christ, is there a sport he's good at?I don't think so, is he even on the AAU Basketball circuit? From what I heard he is not very good at basketball.

I don't know. I never accused you of being as much.I am an optimist and optimistic about him playing football. Just said I heard he wasn't a very good basketball player.
I think with his frame, once he stops playing so much basketball, he should be able to put some healthy weight on and be a very different football player then he is now. How is that pessimistic?
I understand that but he's basically a carbon copy of another recruit already on board, that's the puzzling part. It’s not if you feel that there is the room for the physical growth. Staff saw him, and felt he could add the necessary pounds in the future to play inside. It means that there is so patience required, but it seems like they are cool with that/
If only the staff would let us in to what they're thinking.I understand that but he's basically a carbon copy of another recruit already on board, that's the puzzling part.
Sulfsted is out for the season, injured kneeI'm at the St. X/Centerville game tonight. Should be a good game, gonna keep an eye out for #11. Supposedly they're honoring Kirk Herbstreit tonight, which is part of the reason the neighbors wanted to go. Big Buckeye fans.
