In a world where the transfer portal exists and Notre Dame is going to throw around money, it’s probably better to take a boom Or bust prospect then a bunch of low upside fringe four stars. As we’ve seen, it’s easy for us to find average starters in the portal. It’s much more difficult to find game changing athletes, like a guy like Meadows has potential to be.

With the right QB he will be a stud downfield threat...BG doesnt throw the ball but 16 times a game so nobody puts up huge numbers receiving.
4th on his team last year in receiving yards and 3rd this year, I'm not sure it's a BG problem.

I guess lack of WR production is an issue when it's Bettis but not for anyone else...

I think you have to take both the fringe four stars and the high upside guys with the portal and the new scholarship limit. Use every available avenue to receiver success.

Meadows is a Boom or Bust prospect and that's fine because at this point I would rather roll with some "trait guys" rather than these good HS try hard football player who can never get separation making there route running and elite hands, moot.

As for Meadows he showed out this summer, the talent is there but because of the program he's a part of he is not going to be a plug and play player at any program. Meadows would be one for the future as are the other WR in this class. Only Burress would be ready next season if they were pressed to play him. Last years WR class was much better IMO and they've done nothing this season so even if they take 5 HS WR they are going to need to take 2 to 3 impact WR in the portal.

Take 8 WRs each year and then yell at them until they don’t drop catches ever and if they aren’t starting they can split. That’s how I’d do it.
And if at least one of them isn't a good returner by the B&G game they all get cut.

Is Bettis 6.6 and does he run a 21 second 200 meter?
Does Meadows play both ways?

There are plenty of guys with elite size and athleticism never contribute in college. Plenty of guys without elite measurables end up being good college receivers.

I'm all for taking the high upside athletes but when certain posters on this board have been whining about our currently committed receivers only to look the other way when the same criticisms apply to the shiny LSU commits.

More than half of his catches resulted in TDs which is the main thing!

Not sure why Bettis is even brought up because he wouldn't have a scholarship if not for being a Jr.

Meadows is a 100% take, ND has been recruiting him for a long time and sometimes being a finalist in this type of situation helps especially if Meadows is having second thoughts on his LSU commitment.

Right now a Meadows/Burress as out top WR in the class is something to build off of. Who is Mizell committed to?

Worse case is Meadows transfers out, its the new norm. I'd take a chance on Meadows.

Last year. This year he has 14 receptions for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns. Bettis has 19 for 377 yards and 5 touchdowns while playing more safety than receiver. Both through 8 games. Keep shit talking JBj to your own detriment.

This smells eerily like Jordan Johnson part 2 all over again...lackluster production.

Hard pass

All FACTS and no BS talk JBJs stats have mainly come against two teams Dunwoody and Arabia Mountain who had combined to win 1 game.

Conveniently leaving out that he had over 100 yards against 8-1 Collins Hill, huh?

"All FACTS and no BS talk" man lose the caps lock...
So 80% of his stats came come in two games and 95% in THREE games....Get real, he was recruited as a favor instead of as a PWO nothing more and nothing less! Sooner you get over the facts the better.

In my opinion, the biggest factor concerning Meadows is passes thrown to and passes caught. If he has caught every pass thrown his way, how can he be faulted for not being thrown to? I have not looked it up to see those stats, but my guess is, if the qb went out week 2, the backup may not be able to throw deep & hits the short route most of the time. I would also imagine that with his speed being so widely known, they send him on deep routes to take defenders away. Just guessing, but it is something g to think about if one wants to be objective about it.

I did see where the leader in receiving for shop Gorman has a whopping 61.7 yards a game & just ahead of Meadows the guy has 36.7 yards a game and Meadows is way back in 3rd with 34.3 yards a game. I would be more concerned with how many passes he didn’t catch versus the yards per game.

I watched the game of Gorman vs st Thomas Aquinas early this year....think it was both of their first games. I do remember them saying that it was a new starting qb for Gorman. He didn't look too good the first half, other than a TD pass to Meadows

Colzie came onto the field in the 4th quarter against Navy and took me a minute to remember who #0 was. Pretty amazing how hes fallen off after a promissing 2022.
