'25 NV WR Derek Meadows (Alabama Verbal)

I keep circling back to how awful I thought the portal and NIL were going to be for ND but it’s been a perceived success thus far at least on the portal side.

I feared the worst. Turns out most of the guys that choose Notre Dame do so for the right reasons. Being the "honest" program is paying off with NiL after so many reported "no pays" out there.

I've said it before, but NiL is very good for us. Imo, the team is stronger than it's been since the early 90's.

Robinson's in this class too. It's solid. If Meadows doesn't come in, you can come back and play that card.

Robinson, Hines, Hall, Burress, Bettis is a solid class.
ND was behind the 8 ball because Stuckey didn’t do them any favors on the way out & the guys they identified early and went after ended up blowing up nationally.

Realistically, you just need two to hit.
In the 24 class you need two to hit.
Same in 26 class.
If you get two hits every class you are in a great spot. You want 6-7 WRs who can play between recruiting & portal.
ND will probably get 1 WR every season in the portal.

Landing ALL would make this a very good class and really offset having the 2 "weakest" recruits at the postion. Getting Clark would also be huge.

As far as highest potential by far, there's a lot more Hines types excelling in the league than there are Meadow types. More 6-2, sub 4.5 Robinson types too. Meadows is important not just for his uniqueness but his value in the stargame. Need to win some of those so we can stop pushing the rock up hill and instead get it moving the other direction. The group that ND is focused on has a wide variety of skill sets. That I like. Get a couple to pop and let the others work it out one way or another. Then move onto '26 & '27.

I'm high on Hines as well. Meadows and Hines I think can be studs, not high on the rest of our most likely WR class.

We just don't have either of hines or meadows locked up so it's currently a very bad WR class.

ND has had plenty of good WR talent over the recent years but not enough difference making talent and this is where ND needs to be more of a risk taker and take more of Boom or Bust types because they have enough of the lower upside sure things.

We need to break through that class ceiling that was holding us in like QB recruiting used to be.
Need these transfer WRs (and others) to have the big year that I'm expecting and this should soon be a distant memory of struggling recruiting at the position.

We've had two dominant WRs over the last 10 years, and it completely changes how other teams have to defend you at times.

The only person on our roster with that potential IMO is Williams. I think we have a lot of good WRs especially the ones we got in the portal, but no one is sniffing being drafted first two rounds at WR anytime soon.

Yeah this is certainly something we need to get through with recruiting. It would be great to see those transfer WRs to have a great year and see Bama struggle with life after Saban with anyone who is a potential down the stretch battle for us.

Oh 100%. Meadows has made clear that development to get to the pros is one of the biggest factors for him. By the same token, if Brown can get the WR room this year to shine this year, it's a message ND can deliver right back (certainly not to the Odunze level). It's a battle but I'd like to see MFMF & Co. to go after it (like they seem to be doing).

When I first glanced, I saw rehab and thought the worst, but it apparently, he's been very injury prone and has had rehab setbacks last few years. WR Will Fuller had a setback in rehab, not expected to return this season. One Miami Dolphins reporting piece stated he has "basically disappeared." So I do hope he's doing ok.

BG's passing game was run by 3 SR's last year who had played together for 4 years. QB Micah Alejado now at Hawaii, Elijah Lofton, TE Miami and Audric Harris, WR Washington. That's how things work.

BG has two QB's fighting for the job this year, both with DI offers. Meadows will be the star of the offense no doubt.

Yeah… last wr we took with a ton of hype and no production in HS was Jordan Johnson… we know how they worked out

Ah, just remember he had a low senior year, maybe like 500 yds receiving, and everyone claimed it was due to the offense they ran (i think option) and he was a complete stud.

29rec close to 600yds and 9 Tds, which was good at the time. Yes, they had a serious ground attack (three 1000yd backs) and didn't pass much, QB threw 154 passes during the season.

To add to your point, DeSmet had three junior RBs on that team that all signed with D1 programs the next cycle.
