He visited beginning of last week

And I believe I read earlier this week, he's looking to make a decision this coming Monday, 3/31.

Regarding J'Vari Flowers (from Singer)

Auburn, Miami, Florida & ND are the teams still in contention. From various sources across the different programs, nothing universal stands out about where they all think he ends up.

Auburn people feel it's Miami. Miami people feel its ND. Florida has no clue, and ND believe its 50/50 they get him.

Singer thinks Miami is where he will end up (and where he truly wants to go), but NIL is important regarding his decision. Flowers is expected to give a private commitment soon. Commitment date of March 31.

---------

Two things to unpack here....
1) From the way it was worded, it appears ND is offering Flowers more than Miami.
2) If he commits to ND, he picked money over his heart. I don't think ND should get into those type of recruitments. ND has to be the right choice in your heart, head, gut etc.

Man, hard not to get your hopes up here as this kid is a baller. Sticking to my Ronald Darby comp.

He plays the game with the confidence in the fact he's the fastest man in the field.

Scary to think what Coach Mickens could develop that into, but oh my would it be fuckin fun to watch.

How would this work this late with ND admissions? Wouldn’t he have already had to apply to the school and be accepted to be a possibility at this point?

Someone explain this like I’m dumb…

1. Why isn’t this kid committee/signed somewhere yet?

2. Should I read into ND’s late pursuit that we may lose a DB semi-unexpectedly, or that perhaps someone that was supposed to play DB might actually play WR?

3. Is this just a recruitment that got weird with an elite player, and now MFMF and MFMM are going after him because why not?

He reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class very late, in January. He’s elite and almost every program wants him. No one is leaving, or at least there have been no rumors of anyone leaving. There have been some rumors that Golden could potentially play both ways, or possibly move to WR. I wouldn’t be opposed to him getting some snaps at WR, but I think he has a chance to be an excellent DB.

2. No. Outside chance that Golden moves there.

3. See 1. Lots are reclassifying to maximize the almighty NIL dollars

No, this is Marcus Freeman and ND being an opportunist thanks to Ja'Juan Seider and his deep Florida connections to get ND in the mix. Mickens and Freeman have since made ND serious players with this speed demon CB.

Would be a hell of a pickup even if he's CB #4 for the ND 2025 class as he looks to be a Devin Hester type Returner.

I really do wonder if they consider moving Golden to wr

I think we need to slow the roll on Golden to wr. He had elite potential at corner, safety or even nickel first and foremost. I'd wager if Flowers signs and Thomas continues to ball, they'll look at him in a similar begin as Tae Johnson being versatile enough to play either.

He'd likely be similar to Scrap right now in terms of wr development arc since he was a rb on offense. He's by no means a solution at wr in '25.

I thought long & hard about making JF a profile but I'm not getting strong CB vibes (not that I'd do that CB thing and trigger anyone)

BUT

Had I known there woulda been this level of professionalism brought to the thread I'd have 100% done it for humanity.

You mean Flowers? He is a late bloomer.
He can definitely grow as a player on and off the field once he plants down in South Bend
For sure... once he lays down some seeds, he will really blossom
Kid has an elite backpetal.

Well done all of you. Thx T-B for kicking it off and to Ocjae for the backpetal. That's gold. (You need to post more ya lurker!)

Knowing South FL guys... I fear the only reason he'd decide to plant roots in Michiana is access to the wrong kinda pot in Niles.

(Disclaimer: I don't have any reason to believe the above, just had to include Niles Pot in this wordfest)

I 100% agree with the slowing the roll on the move to WR, however I completely disagree him being similar to Scrap. Scrap is without a doubt a lottery ticket, someone who is far more likely to bust than boom but with the poor WR recruiting in '25 one is going to roll the dice on home do to his potential from his athletic traits.

Whereas Golden not only played all over in the defensive backfield, he was also seen as a legit RB & WR.
