Another early identification success story by the ND staff. When ND offered in January, his best offer was i guess Texas Tech. OU, A&M, Texas, and USC all offered in the following week, with Georgia and LSU following in the months after.
Very good point.

Tech has to get there first with who they're competing against down there. Joey McGuire rose from an HS coach to Texas Tech HC without ever having been a coordinator. He was at Baylor under both Rhule and Aranda, so he can probably identify talent, and he knows the Texas HS circuit.

If ND is getting in early with Texas HS recruits with Texas Tech, that's a positive in terms of ability to identify talent.

He will be really shook when he sees his top 3 are Georgia, Oklahoma & ND…
ND only offers guys nobody regionally want, remember?
well he'll probably say Oklahoma doesn't count because they never have a defense and then say something stupid about UGA only taking him as a plan B if they don't get top of the board guys that they want over him.

UGA has taken a bunch of 3 stars lately... clearly they arent recruiting well enough to hang with the big boys.

Just watched his Jr year Hudl highlights

I don't care if the rankings change or not. Dude is a stud and the tape proves it.

PS love the way he's used in his school's defense. Moved around a lot to keep him free and just play fast

I have to think his 40 time (does anyone know when that was) is what's hurting his rankings. 4.7+ forty off the edge is rarely going to be a great player if "speed" is their best strength. I wonder if it was an old 40 and it's improved now, he looks to be faster than that, or maybe he's a rare player that only has a quick initial burst and what you need at DE/Vyper. Typically you see that with a good vertical.

Very good get

ND really needed this one in the bag. Looked at our class commits on 247 and our defensive recruiting is so bad rankings wise. Hopefully this gets some good mojo going on that side of the ball.

Anyone here the backstory on the live IB broadcast right now?

When he showed up to ND in the spring and worked out, he wasn’t 6’3, 210….

He was 6’4.5 and almost 220.
ND moved him to the top then.
He stood next to Justin Scott and was noticeably bigger than they originally thought.

Other schools also verified that height & weight, that’s when UGA, Texas, A&M, etc…all started going after him.
