I like how none of you can actually debate what I’m saying, it’s bc I’m 100% correct. How can you call Freeman an elite recruiter when he’s making offers like this & Rezac? You can’t, especially when he can’t close on 5* either.

They got that label from me when they upscaled RB last cycle.

He has offers from the SEC, ACC and Big 12.

I don't think hes supposed to be the lead dog in this safety class.

I am whelmed.

This is the first offer / commit where I actually don’t understand the play. The other 3 stars have pretty high upsides / are elite at a specific trait. This kid looks small / tight even against other campers.

Is that a TE camper getting separation from him in his highlights? Yikes.

Won't lie, this is the most meh highlights I've seen, and first time I've actually felt the angry fan has a point here. No idea why we would take this guy and Urlacher. In June. He should be attached to these campers at the hip, or at least closing in seconds. The WR/TE don't even look fast at all.

I'm sure Chris O'leary is doing a good job in Freeman's eyes. I'm also sure another safety coach could be doing better. Where is Al Golden btw?

That feeling you get at 6am as you set your coffee down and realize you've finally agreed with DieHard88thProfile about an aspect of ND recruiting but the thought stays in your mind because you're not a total diick.

To the second paragraph:
I was just thinking hooray for Payne over Diggs bc you know Cincinnati plus really wants to be here. Now I will use same logic and say Al Golden is shit and make Mickens DC immediately bc Cincinnati and he really wants to be here. In Mickens I trust.

Where? Don’t see safety athleticism or rover/snyper size

He's never played safety before. He will get to this year. If he plays poorly this season, then we can critique the offer.

They clearly like him. His coach pounded the table for him to our staff. Let's just see what happens.

Don’t know who the source is or who made the recommendation but it seems like an easy assumption this is coming from someone they have history with and trust. A lot of connections to Ohio for this staff.

But if he isn’t very athletic doesn’t that say enough even if he plays good? All the unathletic safeties we’ve taken that play well in HS haven’t panned out because in reality, HS is easy.

Just really confusing how many major projects were offering and getting this cycle

Next best offer is Pitt. Cincinnati didn’t offer. We might be shopping in a different aisle but it appears to be at Ross and not Neiman Marcus.

Kentucky and West Virginia offered. Those are solid offers. Not great but solid.

Thank you.

So the average NFL safety has a 40 time of 4.54(4.53 free 4.55 strong).

This kid is plenty fast.
I think the issue is less with his speed and more with his supposed stiff hips. The classic white skill player issue (and yes, I know he’s not white.)

I was hoping that something in these highlights would make me turn my head and say "Oh, so THAT'S why we offered him".

But sadly, I didn't see it.

Looks pretty much as advertised. Good straight line speed, but hips look stiff, not explosive coming out of his breaks. Good size and can play physical, and like Lucci mentioned, looks like a potentially good Sniper-type, but that isn't what we need. We need a legitimate deep coverage safety.

Maybe if they end up flipping Beasley, then a guy like Moore or Hobbs can end up moving to safety, but I'd rather not rob Peter to pay Paul if we can.
