this can not be what we want going forward at safety. He looks like he has DJ brown speed, and that is not a compliment. He's physical for sure, but I don't get this at all if it's for safety. If he grows into a Wu or big nickel type player then maybe, but i just don't see safety.

Looks like a Sniper to me. Remove the names and I like his film at Sniper better than someone already in the class. So, there is that.

However, my focus right now wouldn't be on run/hit prospects. I think it's easier to find those guys at any time in the process than it is to find guys that are or can develop into FS's who understand and are adept in coverage.

If I think of it like there are two types of prospects. 1. The prospect that has done it in HS and shown the ability to do that on film (usually these are the higher rated guys for a reason). 2. The prospect that doesn't have that experience but is athletic enough or shows the necessary athletic traits where there is an easy projection to that type of S.

The entire board, three weeks ago, was going to be guys from group #2.

Even Johnson, while an incredible prospect (I truly believe that) he's going to have a learning curve. Maybe due to being so naturally gifted, it's a short one. Maybe it's not. Ziglar and Miles both would seem to have similar learning curves but they also have similarly gifted athletic profiles.

This prospect has neither shown the ability to do it on film or the obvious athletic projection to do so down the road. It's not to say he can't but that would be my concern. We went from going after athletes to develop, which carries a certain type of risk already. To filling spots with the same type of prospect we already have or are easier to get.

All in all, if I'm going to take risks on prospects that haven't shown the ability to do what I think is most needed, then I'd like to see more obvious traits that would translate to them doing so. Not sure I see that here.

If there's some good news, it's that I'm pretty confident that they won't be taking risks at Safety in 2025. Whether it be someone who is a tweener that might fit at another position (Urlacher) or someone who hasn't played a lot of Safety. They'll be in a position where they absolutely have to get guys who are pure Safeties, and probably 1-2 that will need to contribute quickly.

We will see what the future safeties coach and dc are looking for before we know

You know this is going to end up with them expanding the board and taking flyers on kids because they kept getting turned down in 2025.

Or maybe they’ll start taking safety recruiting seriously and get a new coach. Who’s to say!

In regards to my comments on athleticism, the story here is this young man is apparently a legit 4.5 guy and broad jumps 9'9". That's not an insane broad jump number but would put him like 15th or 16th at this years combine amongst S's.

I would assume they verified these numbers but outside of track and field or events that are open to the media, we just have to take their word for it.

He sure didn’t look it on his highlights, especially his fumble recovery td. Looks like a lb in a safety body

All of you keep harping on what a great Recruiter freeman is, not seeing it in this class. The majority of D commits are terrible and they keep getting worse

I’m not obsessed over the kids, I want the coaches to recruit better.
