This dude has to be related to the mayor right? I can’t imagine Lightfoot is an incredibly common surname

Touched base with Marquise on Friday to see if he was visiting but ran out of gas yesterday to report on it.

Totally meant to ask if he was related to the mayor but forgot. Mayor Lightfoot lives on the NW side, Marquise's HS, Kenwood Academy is in President Obama's old neighborhood on the near south side.

Looking into his game, I'm glad ND got involved. It's no secret Elijah Rushing is #1 on my board. I also think Jayshawn Ross is a great fit for ND. Hopefully things click with Marquise and ND.

Lori Lightfoot is from Massillon, was quite a hooper. Played at Michigan, had a side gig serving food to the football team, may have served food to Jim Harbaugh when he played for Bo

So, are you suggesting his last name should be Lightfeet?

He was part of a team that won the school's first ever Chicago Public League Championship. They beat Elzy's Simeon squad in a rematch from the regular season. Kenwood's HC is a Simeon alum.

They have a WR going to Nebraska. Could be a good program to dig into going forward.

Last CPL kid ND took was Robert Hughes, correct?

His HC Sinque Turner played at Simeon and Eastern Illinois University. That's coaching pedigree, so zero surprise that Kenwood Academy is playing good football in the Public League.

Last public leaguer to go to ND was Robert Hughes correct?

Another guy Illinois should be crawling over.

I didn't watch Illinois this past season, but does Bielema know how to throw the ball?

He just hired the UTSA OC, but it's not much of a secret that he's going to try to make U of I into Madison South. Big OL up front, run the football and do no harm in the air. Their offense was not very good. They have the groundwork for a running game and they have a young DC who is an up and comer.

The QB situation is dire but he's got the DeVito kid as a transfer from Syracuse I believe. Previous staff didn't do him any favors when it came to recruiting. First thing he did when he got hired was contact the head of the Illinois HS Football Coaches Association, which was absolutely brilliant.

He should be going after in state kids like this hard.
