Good idea to tell him to go on some other visits before committing. Seems like most decommitts are guys who committed very quickly and subsequently regretted it.

Yeah, this has consistently been ND's selling point re: NIL.

"We aren't going to pay you to sign a letter of intent. But if you come here, you'll have an opportunity to get paid."

Kyle Hamilton is someone who put this to good use. Was making quite a bit on his podcast plus appearances and such.

Loy not as confident in Robinson being part of the class because of numbers. He thinks they'll take 3 and one in the portal.

I don't like that move personally.

Extremely meh if we pass. I get wanting a different type of weapon but we simply seem to attract and develop bully slots and TEs better than the tiny guys.

I'd be alright with passing if it meant we were getting Jaden Reddell. He'd be an all American in that role imo.

I’d be okay with three wide receivers if it means for certain we sign a 2nd running back like Kedren Young, or it allows us to sign 4 OL, especially 2 OTs, even if the 4th OL isn’t Lambert.

That being said, I do like what Robinson can do in space, and it is truly someone we still don’t have on the roster.

If you feel really good about the 3 ya got and even better about the 3 from last cycle, it makes sense to me.

That 4th spot becomes a BPA and we're very early to be making BPA decisions. With all that said, if Robinson wanted to truly shut it down for ND, I'm taking him.

How are we concerned over numbers with the transfers that have and will continue to happen

I think you’ll see tyree (league or elsewhere) and colzie(elsewhere) move on after this year, maybe even Thomas (league if monster year)

Loy has to be wrong because i just don't see our staff not only turning down a speed burner like him but also turning down a chance at getting a foot in the door from a place that we usually don't gets kids from

What Loy is hearing is what everyone is hearing.
ND is trying to decide if they want to take 3 or 4 WRs.
Originally it was 3, but with Styles leaving 4 became an option.
But they are trying to decide where to use that spot? 4th WR? 2nd RB? 2nd TE?
4th OL?
There are like 3 spots for those 4.

Why? Just recruit, more will leave.

I know that’s over simplifying but top players that come to nd and aren’t playing may not want to continue the academic rigor without pt

It’s funny you say that, because that exact thing was explained today & why it can’t happen.

ND’s biggest message is the ND degree. ND is one of the schools who offers 4 year scholarships. You can still only have 85 scholarship players. That is about 21 a year, about 17 if you count 5th year average who stay. ND signs more than that every year. The players you are talking who about who leave early are already factored in to those numbers, thus why they can recruit 25 players a year & still have only 85 total.

ND would then have to lie and destroy their own message if they start pulling scholarships before the 4 years. Then they could no longer tell kids how important the ND degree is & if you come you will have it if you choose.

A roster is as follows by average:
(You have 4 classes & 5th years)

1: 25
2: 25
3: 25
4: 25
5th 7.5 (usually 7 to 8)

That’s 107.5 scholarships on the team.
So you already are losing 22.5 on average by attrition as you mentioned above.
Basically, 5-6 in each class leave, so that’s what makes up the 22.5 extra. After that you would have to pull scholarships. Then you can’t use your main recruiting message ever again.

Recruits say they’re coming for the degree but in the end it’s football. We learned that with every guy that has transferred. Take high level recruits that want to come and sort it out in spring and fall

Exactly…. Nd pitches degree and a person like Tyler Buchner leaves … nd doesn’t have to change anything other than recruiting more and using portal more

That’s not what I’m saying.

It’s two different things.
1) The vast majority of kids who come to ND football stay & graduate.
2) If you tell recruits the degree is part of the sales pitch, then over recruit the numbers & have to pull scholarships, you lied.

I think this is why we've started to see an increase in medical scholarships given to players who would've been cut at other schools. Some are legit, I'm sure. But it's an option that lets ND have its cake and eat it too. They can get the degree for free, ND still gets its fb scholly.

Absolutely no inside info on Robinson, but I wonder if being around the kid for a couple days gave the staff pause... Or they brushed up on the last 25 years history/complete failure that is recruiting long beach poly kids... might as well be in fucking Fresno.

No idea what staff thinks. We mostly have agreed that since Reese left, the beat has no idea what the gug thinks. Now as recruiting season heats back up again then the opposite is true and the pundits now have the pulse again?
