Agreed, I just don't think 2022 was a disaster. Rees definitely mismanaged it, imo, but we still ended up alright. If we repeat that this cycle I'm happy.
It’s fine. I’m just wanting to see 4-5 star talent every year. All in burned us after April. Either way, I think we are recruiting at a championship level, but back to back 3 star QBs is not up to par with the defense.

Most interesting tidbit from the Loy story is he seems to think that Notre Dame HAS offered, it just hasn’t been confirmed yet

It’d guess Mr. Minchey’s offer list’s didn’t truly stop on 4/11 with UAB (committed on 4/30)

I like how Angeli has somehow become the target threshold for QB recruiting. There are some diamonds in the rough out there, hopefully that’s the type we end up with if not better. With that being said, I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong, but I really don’t see us taking the next step with Angeli running the show. We need a healthy Buchner for a full year, Carr to be as expected, and another guy that can challenge for the spot between the two.

I won’t jump the gun right now, but considering how he handled the 2022 QB cycle, if Rees strikes out at QB this cycle or gets someone who can’t really play, then that’s yet another bad look for him. Thankfully he landed Carr in 2024, otherwise he might be put on notice.

Maybe I was watching something different than you guys, but I thought Angeli looked pretty good for a freshman during the blue-gold game. I don't understand all the criticism towards him.
Have you been seeing the negativity on the board lately. L o l

“another bad look” and “put on notice” in the eyes of whom? Freeman? Swarbrick? The college football and NFL industry?

Or just some factions of ND message boards?

Spot on with this post. With Buchner out at the B&G game that gave Pyne a chance and he did not look good.

I was impressed with Angeli and it would not surprise me if he jumped Pyne as our backup QB. Rees played his freshman year.

In addition to PSU, looks like LSU and FSU have also recently reached out.

I like Minchey but this is a weird way to play it.
Either we were talking to him quietly out of respect to his Pitt commitment and that's out the window. Or we're doing one-QB-at-a-time and Novosad gave us the bad vibes so it's on to the next one.
Either way Minchey can't visit until September now right? Lord knows how many offers he'll have by then.

A few insiders have all but said they have been talking to him just as long as Novosad, but committed recruits choose to go public with things at different times. IMO him putting it on twitter is a significant development, but we'll see how it plays out.

Yeah, I could see that. It's his move to go public not ours. Just too bad we can't get him on campus for awhile b/c the dead period. He'll have other elite-program offers before long and can spend the fall shopping around. Which is nice for him.

Offered.

Somehow, some way Rees has fucked up 2023 QB worse than 2022. It’s actually impressive at this point.
Imagine how this board would feel if he didn’t land Carr in 2024. Regardless, if it turns out that his evaluations/recruiting and coaching/play-calling are nothing special then he won’t be here very long. No nepotism here now that BK is gone.

I would think Minchey would have to be pretty damn interested to post about an offer. I imagine we aren’t the only school to offer since his commitment yet we’re the only one he’s posted about.

Honestly think he’s should be ranked between 150-200. Unfair to compare him to Angeli as a “backup option”. He’s a very solid QB in his own right who has performed very well at camps.

Also, Rees must just think very low of Avery Johnson as a QB in general. Odd there hasn’t been any buzz about him.

To be fair, Rees had a commitment from a 5 Star QB in ‘23.
And when that went south he immediately got a commitment from a 5 Star QB in ‘24.

I blame Moore & his father more than a blame Rees.
If a kid isn’t willing to go public, I’m never going to count that as a “commitment”.

Public commits seem to mean nothing these days, let alone “silent” ones

He would not have announced the offer if he wasn’t interested.
