His picks come from terrible QB decisions. He's an okay player. The new DB coach wanted someone else to take his spot and so did I.
And yet they were picks. In some cases, very consequential picks - closing out USC and PSU
He was in position, eyes in the correct place, athletically able to make the pick instead of bat it down, and kept his balance enough to run back the USC pick.

So he is not the best CB on the team, and you can complain about that, but in ND's defensive backfield that is not quite an insult.
Injury history is an issue, as it was for BenMo...and you're right, due to that no team sprinted to the podium for him

Interesting article by the head of the draft, Dan Brugler. Reviewed his top 50 board from this time last year and where those players were playing this year. DJ Mckinney was at 32

Gray can be frustrating at times, same way I felt about Ike Taylor watching the Steelers. But I wouldn't trade him, dude never gives up and steps up when needed. Put it this way, when I saw his name at the top of the page... I gasped in hopes he wasn't hurt.

It's not really scary bump season, not unless your name is Jagusah, in which case it's always scary bump season.
