Kudos to Freeman for going after CJ hard in April then. The fact there’s not a whisper of even the slightest about interest in any ‘23 QBs has to feel a little like CJ is possibly looking to move up.

Silent commits are as meaningful as the non-existent paper they aren’t written on and should be treated as such.

1. His opinion - had ND waited on Dante they still could have landed him. But Carr's commitment soured this situation.
2. The supposed reclassification or specter of CJ reclassifying did get out. This hurt with Dante's commitment. That was well understood at ND as well. It was a wrong move.

ND could have handled it better. Rees is known to be impatient. By taking Carr's commitment while Dante was still doing his visits and discussions of reclassifying had the chilling effect that they knew it would. ND should have held out with Carr. But the agenda was pushed on the Carr side.

Yes we got Carr. He better RECLASSIFY because we will have two years in a row with weak ass QBs. If TB gets hurt or moves on, the QB room could be stranded for two years. The QBs left in 2023 are not game changing talents (like Dante was). Get Carr to reclass and hunt for a Top 100 QB in 2024. That is the best strategy now. They should do this now so they could jump back in with Julian Sayin. But I don't think the Carr family wants another 5 star on the ND sidelines...... So we will get a Top 300 QB, hopefully. Ugh.

If a QB won't commit to your school early publicly, move on. QBs are so huge to building classes.

THat's my only problem here, why did moore ever want to not publicly commit? Immediately i would have been involved with next, while still recruiting him.

I’m sure every recruit would love to enjoy the process and take their time, but the QB position at a major program is built different. It’s the leader on the field and in the recruiting class, and the first chance you get to see what they’re made of is how interested they are in leading the efforts to build their class. Is it fair? Not really. But more is expected from that position than any other on the team.

Dante might have more physical talent than CJ, but CJ was very vocal about wanting to lead and wanting to be the face of now *two* classes. That should say a lot about his makeup.

That’s a very skewed summary of what Driskell wrote.
Dante was given a few months to go public, and ND told Carr to hold off while they waited for Dante.
Dante’s family didnt want ND, ever.
So when ND gave Carr the green light, that was ammo the family used against ND to wedge a stake between Dante & ND.

The Carr stuff was weeks after things already started going sour. ND was giving Dante all the chances in the world & literally changing dates of visits of other recruits for Dante. Instead of keeping his promises he went other places instead. That was all before the Carr commitment.
And the Carr family knew ND was pushing for Dante & they told the Carr family they wanted Carr to wait until Dante went public.
The Carr family had zero problem with ND recruiting Dante. CJ wanted to commit right after Dante committed in February.

This was 75% Dante’s family not wanting ND, and 25% NIL.
The Moore family just used the Carr commitment as ammo against ND. It wasn’t the initial reason.

Loy seems like a weird guy. I don't follow him or really know much about him other than what people repeat here. OR did have a good class '21, but last year was trash. They are being demoted it seems in conference and SOS. They also aren't off to much of a start this year in recruiting. This Loy guy must have some ulterior motive for talking gibberish like that. As long as Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State exist, and likely in the future Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, USC, maybe Texas - Oregon is simply PAC12 nobody. They've always been little sister in the playoff conversation and that's about to be exacerbated by the fact that they play nobody and nobody watches them. They are the kind of team that will lose to Stanford or get throttled by 50 if they hit a top 3 SEC team and beat by 14 to the best Big12 team in a bowl matchup. While I've never hated OR (they're too mediocre to hate), I really hate the idea that someone in the ND media would somehow perpetuate a fabricated idea that OR has a leg up on Notre Dame. That is absolutely silly. ND is killing it along the trail and OR and ND aren't even in the same ballpark as far as brand and program following. This is likely the biggest recruiting win in OR history. Meanwhile, we still have the #1 class.

If it was between Carr or Dante, he made the right move. Carr is a legit 5 star and wanted in 110%. You take that every time and you don’t hesitate. Dante had plenty of time to make his decision. Plenty of time.

That’s why it’s comical when he talks about what he would do if he was the coach, instead of BK.
