I agree with this.I'll be super pumped when he's committed and done taking visits. For now, I'm not a fan of how the staff is playing this. I don't think the risk/reward makes sense. The upside is you get 1 of the 2 QB's to commit. The downside is you get neither by alienating Vizzina and Moore might find something that he is clearly looking for. If you just keep recruiting Vizzina then you can keep the door open to both. I'm sure this is very similar to last cycle when they started taking silent commits, even public commits, from guys that were still taking visits. I think that strategy was pretty much a wash. Some worked out and some did not. The problem is, we can't afford to have it happen at QB this cycle like it did at WR.
What could go wrong? This I do not understand. So ND loosens ties with an elite prospect in an attempt to show "all in" for another which could ultimately leave them with neither at any point on the whim of a 17 year old.
Does this seem wise to you guys?
Only because he hasn't publicly verballed yet. Soon. Soon...Excitement around having a 5 star QB potentially committed is significantly lower than where it should be.
Agreed. It just makes no sense to not recruit other QB's until a QB is publicly committed to the class.
How often does that happen vs how many times what the analysts are hinting at repeatedly actually hit? I can think of two on the former (Walker, Braiden McGreggor). I can think of dozens on the latter.I'm just not a fan whose to say Michigan isn't telling Moore to lead us along until the last minute and flip to Michigan they did this exact thing with Walker.

I agree.
I don’t think the staff is not recruiting other QB’s though. I think the staff is still recruiting others, they have just been honest and straightforward with them about their QB board that Moore is at the top.
Could that still backfire? Sure. But I think they’re still on top of it and talking with other QB’s.
Correction, that’s when I gave up GIRLS. Then I switched to WOMEN. It was nice being 13 and having a lady to drive me around, buy me smokes and booze, and hang out at her house when all my buddies were spending their nights watching Urkell and waiting for their parents to drive them to the store and give them money to buy Vanilla Ice’s cassette.,... and that was where irishog77 gave up on women entirely,....
Anyway, this thread continually being at the top of the board concerns me... I stopped following recruiting bc the drama... I assume this thread is covering DRAMA... correct?
It sure doesn't seem wise to me, unless the staff knows something we don't. If they're just trying to show Dante that they're all-in, then they're taking an unnecessary risk. This I do not understand. You have 3 years of Pyne, 2 years of Buchner, 4 years of Angeli after the 2022 season. You miss on Moore then you can close on Avery from KS and then get Sayin in 2024 class.
I don't think it's killer if we miss on Moore, as long as we get someone in 2023 and lock up a top 5 QB recruit in 2024
I think that’s a bit shortsighted. One, we don’t always know guys visit schedules. And two, I think CV was more told “hang on a second” rather than “don’t come, because we don’t want you and we’re not recruiting you anymore.”Well, if there are no other '23 QB's scheduled to visit and the one that was, we told not to come, I don't think we're really recruiting other QB's. It's just like when we were recruiting other WR's last year yet none of them ever came to visit. You're not really recruiting guys unless you are scheduling visits and trying to get them on campus.
Eventually it has the same impact. You don't tell other 5 star QB's to "hang on a second" because they don't have too. While the words may sound different, they are taken the same. Vizzina quickly scheduled a visit to Ole Miss. He's not waiting around for ND. Once he moves on, it doesn't matter how we rationalize what was said. If he visits ND, then none of this matters.I think that’s a bit shortsighted. One, we don’t always know guys visit schedules. Again, I’m not saying the staff necessarily has the best strategy going. But I think it indicates that they are in a good position with Moore. I also take solace in that the best recruiter is the HC and is in charge of all the recruiting. I don’t think they’re going to be caught with their dick in their hands like they were multiple times under Burnt Ends.

No. More panic, less logic. You have 3 years of Pyne, 2 years of Buchner, 4 years of Angeli after the 2022 season. You miss on Moore then you can close on Avery from KS and then get Sayin in 2024 class.

He most likely ends up at Clemson if not here, where he 100% knows he was second choice and has had that convo with the Clemson staff. This is a great way to honk of a great player with tons of options. Nothing like making an A team player feel 2nd best...
Cant imagine that going over well
Shockingly, I think the coaching staff knows more about where this recruitment is headed than fans on a message board. It sure doesn't seem wise to me, unless the staff knows something we don't. If they're just trying to show Dante that they're all-in, then they're taking an unnecessary risk.

Or even Michigan. McNamara > 5 Star McCaffrey > Going hard after 5 star Moore. How do people think Bama/UGA/OSU recruit in these situations?
