This is one where the order of when someone takes visits as such a weirdly important impact when you think about it. He OVs to Clemson first and now they’ve probably convinced him he hasn’t visited in a while and to return. BC and Bama OVs provided this buffer between decision and his ND one. What if ND was 4/4 do they lock it up instead of confidently, so we thought, waiting 2 weeks?

“There is a chance he visits a school in late July before making a decision, but nothing is set in stone.”
I can’t remember the Clemson stuff, but I know they were trying to get him back on campus soon. And of course ND is doing the BBQ.
Is this more of an indication of going to Clemson or ND for the visit?

I'm going to guess Clemson because something feels weird here. He's been expected to join the class for a couple months, that usually means he's considering a different direction

I still hope he makes the right choice here but this increasingly feels like one where the Dante Moore situation costs us. Things seemed to shift around the time Dante fell through. Vizzina seems to be working him pretty hard. We have no one to answer with at the moment.

(Because, yes, otherwise by all rights a high-academic kid from Boston who is close friends with another of our commits should go to Notre Dame not Clemson).

If Ronan really is concerned about NDs QB situation (speculation)I hope that ND can hold him back a couple weeks (if Ronan is close to commiting to dabo)while ND locks down Novosad.

Novosad and Carr pair would be every bit as good and whoever Clemson might get next year.

Tired: they offered Minich because of Bowen or Downs

Wired: they offered Minich because they were gonna flip Hanafin to D

-We need a fourth receiver in this class
-Hanafin would be a welcome addition to this class as a WR
-Pretty much unanimous agreement he would be elite on defense and not as much so on offense
-The 2024 class is loaded at receiver.

Push for Manning or someone committed elsewhere, actually get a transfer, and receiver depth will be fine.

If Hanafin goes south is it too late to flip Elzy. I really liked the high floor with Elzy. Probably the lowest ceiling of the group but with still depth issues at the position I was pretty ok with taking him as a likely contributor.

If Hanafin does choose Clemson, that means ND led for Jason Moore, Hanafin & Love going into the OV’s & two would have gone elsewhere & ND is in a battle for Love.

I figured with our new staff recruiting that anybody we lead for going into OV’s would be locked down on their ND visit.

Right? This staff just can't recruit or close. Awful, what a joke

I don’t get including Love here. It was never going to be a ND - Michigan - Missouri battle. No coaching staff will make first time visits to Alabama, A&M, and Oregon just afterthoughts.

Agree. It's going to be a grind for all of the top prospects. It's only July so we just need to take deep breaths

I think we go into the season and start pressing some higher ranked committed receivers if bad news on this one. I’d love to have Hanafin but I’m not going to let his probable not coming to ND sour my attitude abojt what’s still doable. This is the best class, if he doesn’t want to be in it, perhaps the staff can convince someone even better than him to flip. I wonder how Gallagher or Tate would feel if we pounded Ohio State into the turf. Also landing a kid like Wingo would make me forget about this one quickly.

I include Love the same way I would include others ND got in on early before they blew up, which is a formula that works for ND.
I 100% believe that there is no way Keeley is in our class if ND didn’t get on him when he was not even a top 150 player & locked him down after his sophomore year.

ND does well with finding kids early & building huge leads then closing during OVs.
I figured with the new staff it would be even more of a sure thing with how good they recruit.

I agree. It’s a bit disappointing, but I heard Dabo took Ronan to one of those churches where they put boa’s around your neck and heel your grandma.
I married into a family with some Pentecostals on the fringe. They are extremely fascinating people and their church services are extremely entertaining if you can get past the discomfort.

As a boa aficionado could you change this to not a boa. And traditionally the full gospels use local venomous. So Kentucky your talking Eastern Diamondbacks and occasionally copperheads. Down in those parts probably still eastern diamondback‘s and if they’re really quick handed maybe dusky pygmy rattlesnakes.

Ditto, but if you really search it out you can within driving distance find a few they still do the snake handlings but it is very hush-hush

Alabama offered Love first. As did Oregon for that matter.

C’mon you didn’t expect a battle with Alabama on the OV list? Them, Nike U and aTm weren’t gonna make it interesting?

Sidenote:

IB LOVES themselves some Marcus Freeman & the new staff.

So if they say even the smallest negative thing about the new staff it’s worth noting.

They said ND adjusted late with their recruitment of Hanafin.
Said that ND’s approach was Freeman & Rees, the head guys, were the ones who recruited Hanafin, not Stuckey.
And Clemson was able to climb up the recruitment because their WR coach recruited Hanafin & built a great relationship with him. And that close relationship is a big factor & ND realized this & now Stuckey is trying to build a relationship with him.

Unrelated…they didn’t go into details, but did say that ND misjudged the Jason Moore situation & didn’t close properly. Said it was disappointing because ND had their chance and missed it.

And all this was on free podcasts, so don’t come at me…LOL

Alabama offers everybody, kind of weird for a program like theirs, but they don’t actively recruit all those kids. Going back it was said Bama never actively recruited Love until after ND.
And now they arent really pushing for him.

Soup Nazi went away for a month after the Carr commitment and Dante moving on. He wouldn't comment on Dante and locked down threads. What will he do if they lose more than 2 games?

I love ND but until Freeman beats a ranked team we are just a long for the ride. No reason to lock threads and get nasty. Like passive / aggressive behavior.

Okay haha. A&M then. Point being you’re surprised that a kid is considering schools more now than he had prior to visiting. He had never visited A&M or Bama. They literally could only go up. I don’t get the surprise this is not a forgone conclusion since it was never presented as one. Hopefully ND wins, that’d be good. If not that’d be bad, but this was ALWAYS going to be more of a battle when Love took his OVs, as it usually is.
