Correct, I watched the entire podcast last night and while there were some interesting stories in there about Dante, they were all over the place with their thoughts. At one point it sounded like Malik told Dante not to come to ND. Then he said ND was the best option by far and made fun of Oregon. They were saying it was all on Dante's dad. Then saying it was CJ Carr's parents fault. Then saying CJ's dad didn't want CJ at ND. Then saying the Carr's played chess and the Moore's played checkers. It was very hard to follow.
Sampson kind of covered the Carr backstory before.
CJ’s dad never wanted CJ not to go to ND, he just didn’t want CJ to commit in February/March after just one visit based on emotion. He wanted CJ to take all his visits and make an educated decision. Finally, CJ said he was 100% sure and his dad told him it was okay.
Sounds like Malik was stirring things up a bit.

Sounds like Hanafin’s recruitment has gotten pretty tight.

On the IB podcast Bryan mentioned that a week ago he was very confident in Hanafin to ND, but now not as much. Says it’s really tight with Clemson & the staff needs to close.
Vizzina is recruiting Hanafin really hard to Clemson now too.

This is starting to feel like a Jason Moore scenario where everyone thought ND was the leader & gets passed at the end.
IB has always hinted Hanafin was one of the silents.

For what (very little) it's worth, a cousin of mine who also plays HS football in Boston knows/works out with Hanafin and told me a couple weeks ago he thought he'd go to Clemson. But that kid's a Michigan fan so what does he know.

Could be a Jagusah situation. Clemson has only a high 3 star at WR with not much great prospects left. Greathouse would hopefully make 3 at ND soon. Clemson trying last ditch to pull at that string wouldn’t shock me like Michigan tried to do with depth chart.

I don’t think he is or ever was a silent, ND certainly has been and still should be considered the likely landing spot.

Driskell just put out an ominous update.

Said that in June Hanafin was ready to shut things down & announce a decision.
But things changed.

Said that his sources that were confident in Hanafin to ND have gone completely silent & he can’t get anything from them, no return calls, no messages, nothing.
Said that in the past this was always a bad sign.
Said he is very concerned about it now.

That is bad. They can’t miss on numbers at WR or QB in this class. It’s a non-starter.

If this is the case I feel like ND has a pretty significant retort of "Did you watch their offense last year?". We had a statue at QB and were on our 3rd string LT and still managed to look leaps and bounds better.

as much i want this kid i also can't blame him for choosing clemson if it isn't us as they have warmer weather than us here in Indiana and a pretty good coach that gets players to the NFL

They've got fewer players in the NFL than we do currently, our depth chart looks much more inviting at WR, and we'll see how well Dabo puts guys in the league without Venables and Elliott.

Anna is curious if Hanafin makes it out to Clemson's BBQ. Also says without saying that our WR class potentially having 3 commits before Hanafin makes his decision might be hurting ND in this recruitment.

If so, that’s a little disappointing, especially considering our WRs have been tweeting at him and are trying to get him on board.

I get it from his point of view, but I also appreciate our guys welcoming and embracing the competition for the good of our team.

Has he seen the depth chart? That’s a better indicator of early PT than who’s in your class.

To be completely fair, it sounded like Anna speculation......so let's hope he doesn't make it out to that BBQ and commits to ND.

Yeah, Notre Dame has never offered someone at a position after missing on a target and landed them. Ever.
A problem is they need bodies *and* talent, and you don’t find a ton of athletes like Ronan out there. They can probably get a body, although I said the same thing last year about WR recruiting.

We’re gonna have what, like 8 scholarship receivers next year if we land a class of 4. How depth chart could be an issue is mind boggling.

I wonder if distance is a problem. I do wonder if losing J Moore and Hanafin will keep us out of the top 5.

I don’t think South Bend is further away then Clemson. It’s a decent flight for either

That Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah guy worked out pretty well.
That was a new coach bringing in talent….

Hanafin isn’t someone you just go find easily

My point is someone else is what Kelly did to finish a lot of classes and those players never saw the field
