I didn't like the playcalling from Texas in the first 3 quarters. Conservative play calling and then trying to ramp it up late and be aggressive bit them in the end.

Playcalling was horrific, the absolute worst I've seen from Sarkisian.

I thought Arch was bad. Inaccurate even on completions. Slow to process. Didn’t run as much as I expected.

But Sarkisian was definitely worse. Unless Texas turns it around and is really back in at least the semis with a high octane offense, it’s likely time to give up play calling. Remember there is no real OC just two guys with elevated titles for pay. Sark has had the highest rated QB ever, TWICE, in Ewers and Arch Manning. If Arch doesn’t flip a switch, that is serious development issues. The QB Coach has been with him since 2019 at Bama as an analyst so a total yes man to him. Sark is OC and QB Coach. He still can’t figure out a red zone offense. Just an awful game plan today. He’s built the program no doubt but you can’t help but see he’s also not a 100% plus value in his role with the offense.

Manning looked uncomfortable all day against a beatable Ohio St. team. Neither team gave me that feeling of being an opposing team afraid to play them. Sayin did what he had to do to win. I expected Manning to put up better stats, Texas and Manning look overated.

What are you going to scheme up if he missing check downs in the flat (badly)? Like he did twice on that last drive.

I have a feeling that OSU's defense had a lot to do with that. Their defense was just suffocating especially when it counted - when Texas went for it on multiple 4th down attempts

They played cover two all day and took away any sort of big play. He just was bad in the pocket because he had no easy first read. Sark called and absolutely terrible game and arch was bad and their right tackle was bad

I mean that’s part of my point, if you can’t get Arch Manning to complete simple passes, it’s time to re-evaluate your own role in coordinating the offense and bring in someone else who can. That is not only play calling I’m referring to.

They were still averaging 4.5 per carry and came up with zero twice in the red zone. He completely abandoned his screen game (his calling card) until late in the 2H. He completely abandoned the read option game which they literally packaged for Arch last year.

saw a graphic that something like 37% of his passes were off target. that's not a playcalling issue - that's an execution issue.
also - there was a playcalling issue.

bad combo.

Like that pass on 3rd and 5 at midfield that would've gone for an easy first down. Sidearms it for no reason, incomplete. He stunk on ice.

First time qb. Processing just a bit slow. Starts to question his abilities. Hopefully we won't be eating that crow.

This kid is ass. Didn’t play anyone in HS, didn’t do any big camps, didn’t show anything last year, and Heisman favorite for…reasons.

He missed easy throws and easy reads. Some painful film to sit thru coming this week. Expectations have come back to earth. Game manager role coming up.

Agreed, I just don't understand how one could even think that offensive PC could win you a game, let alone a game vs a top 5 team.

Ohio State's defense had a lot to do with Manning looking uncomfortable

The way that OL blocked had a lot to do with that....he was basically flushed to roll right or left on 75% of his passes. But with 4 new starters and the top recruit on the OL committing silly penalties what can you expect.
