It’s rare that a kid who de-commits from ND ends up back w/ them via transfer. Plus, how close is he do graduating at Bama? If not a grad transfer, he may not even be a take depending on what credits he has accrued.

That said, imagine what Charlie Partridge could do w/ this kid?
These are rare times.

Singer’s sources didn’t shoot down ND pursuing here. Says it’s “very possible” he visits
I'll believe it when I see it. Not ruling it out, but that sounds a bit click baity to me.

1). ND would likely have a hard time getting a non-graduate from Alabama accepted into school beyond his freshman year. Not saying it's impossible, just seems like a bit of a reach.

2). I find it unlikely that a kid that was committed to ND and left the class the way he did, is suddenly going to return to ND a few years down the road.

Who knows though? Stranger things have happened.

I think the days of ND "having a hard time" getting non-grads in are over.

Several of ND's targets in the portal are non-grads. Marsh was a sophomore. Gilliam is a sophomore. Ian Strong is a junior.

Riley Leonard came to ND as an non-grad.

Keon has been at Alabama for 3 years, even though it doesn’t feel like it. He could be close to graduating, especially if he enrolled early.

He could also do what Beaux Collins did, finish up his degree in the spring then join the team in the summer.

I don't think that's the case in each situation. I think there is balance between who they'll take as a transfer and who they won't. They've definitely loosened it up, but I don't think Freeman has blanket approval now.

At least Keeley really wanted to be here but was pressured by family/town a la Amir Carlisle to go elsewhere. I think he can be a great player who already has great talent and elite measurables

I mean, I think they need to be cultural fits and have to actually play school and have been in good academic standing at their old school.

I don't think they're just going to take every Joe Schmo with credits in underwater basket-weaving.

That said, it definitely looks like the credit transition thing that was an issue for ND is no longer an issue. Riley Leonard, IIRC, didn't graduate from Duke before transferring to ND, and didn't get his degree from ND either when he left. However, the credits he earned at ND did help him finish his Duke degree.

I think the "credit transition" thing was probably more nuanced than people made it out to be in a lot of circumstances. I don't think it was / is strictly a problem of ND thumbing their nose at reasonable transfer credits so much as it's the case of a lot these big schools / state schools offering degrees / majors/ minors in a wide variety of subjects that ND simply does not offer and cannot reasonably shoehorn those credits into something that they do offer.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall of admissions in order to understand all the nuances. I spent many years as a recruiting coordinator for a football program and I've dealt with transfer credits and admission offices more times than I care to admit... Never a fun experience and that was at a pair of schools that are objectively much more lenient than ND is.

FWIW - Jourdan Blake (ND’s Director of Player Personnel) followed him on Twitter over the last few days, so the interest on our side appears real.

With Russaw hitting the portal yesterday, Keeley’s stock at Bama may have just improved.

Keeley should have 100% been Irish from the start that was a victim of timing. 2025 or 2026 class and ND is able to get the NIL involved to get him across the finish line. Hell maybe even the 2024 class. 2023 class would have been better than the 2026 class if ND was forward thinking about NIL.
