Rees seems in over his head when it comes to QB recruiting. That's what happens when you have an OC with no prior experience. ND shouldn't be a place where you're learning on the job. Joe Moorhead would've been the better hire, but Kelly had to have one of ''his guys''.

How’s it not relevant to Nico. If Nico had an offer is there a better or worse chance of him visiting? If Nico visits is there a better or worse chance he takes ND seriously? It wouldn’t be the first time a young man changed his routine so he could go to ND.

We need to get in the game with the top QB’s. Offers don’t force us into decisions but get us in the game. Offers incentivize some of these guys to get on campus. As they get on campus we can progress our board and prioritize from there. Or at the very least use it as leverage over other offers.

But what if there is a tangible reason we have not only not offered but won’t be recruiting him at all. I’d love to explore what that could be, apparently we won’t be doing that though lol. We agree and disagree strongly on certain things but I’ll be honest, you’re just blowing through an update with blinders on to push the exact same point again IMO

Like there were tangible reasons to not offer Ty Simpson last summer, right? Or Drew Allar in Nov. ND needs to start the process with these young men and go from there.

But, to your point. What could it be? Academics? Like I intimated above, it wouldn’t be the first time they’d offer a non-qualifier. Heck, we’ve had non-qualifiers as commitments for months at a time. You can’t do that with a QB but there is no reason to not get more aggressive with these young men. We are not bound to offers.

Visits create excitement and leverage. Of all positions on the entire team, the one that has little momentum on the visit list is QB. ND being on Nico’s national visit list brings attention. If you have to offer to get that visit? Who cares.

It’s very relevant.

And what purpose does it serve Kelly to have "his guys"? You are saying Kelly interviewed and evaluated other people and decided Rees was it because he was "his guy"?

Class of 2022 QB commitments:

Notre Dame: Steve Angeli #230, .9124 - 6'3, 215 pounds
Oregon: Tanner Bailey #205, .9191 - 6'1, 195 pounds

This ignores Moorhead getting Ty Thompson who ended up #9 on Rivals a few months after being at Oregon. We'd be saying he should be the next HC if he did that at ND. Rees on the other hand seems uncertain on who to offered or when.

It's easier for Kelly to meddle with the offense when his OC is a former player who he was coaching a few years ago. An OC with a proven track record like Moorhead probably wouldn't accept that.

See, now I think we're just conflating criticisms at this point. The offense we've run under Rees looks nothing like the offense that Kelly called when he was the play caller. So, I think we need to separate the play calling/coach Rees and the QB recruiter Rees into separate conversations. We've seen nothing to support the narrative that Rees is just an extension of Kelly calling plays. It's actually the opposite.

After his firing from Mississippi State, Moorhead was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Oregon on January 21, 2020.
Ty Thompson committed to Oregon........March 16, 2020.

What a remarkably short timeline, otherwise I would probably lead with Joe Moorhead Chrono Wizard before I reference his offensive recruiting acumen, or does time involved in recruitment only matter when it fits a narrative?

Bro, we got Tyler Buchner nearly a year before Thompson committed to Oregon. And his recruiter was one Tommy Rees.

Like, I get concern on what seem to be delayed offers but there seems to be some reasoning as to why -- Tommy wants to see them live if he can and the 22-23 cycles have kinda be thrown for a loop because of it.

If there is argument to be made, I think it's more about how Tommy needed to get creative and find a way to expedite his process in this current Covid-climate, but other than that, I have yet been shown reason to worry about his recruiting of quarterbacks.

Moorehead has done nothing, so far, at Oregon to make anyone think he should've been the choice.

It's easier to make the playoff when you win all your regular season games. An OC like Moorhead probably wouldn't accept that.

Whoa! Would be a possible game changer. Loy’s comments make it seem like an offer will be coming and things must have changed that previously kept them from offering.

For those that haven’t, check out this kids highlights.

He’s a baller. Personally, I think he’s in a different tier than Moore.

If the QB offers had tiers, I’d go

Tier 1: Nico

Tier 2: Moore and Arnold

Tier 3: Avery Johnson

I am SOLD! On the strength of that clip alone. That dude is an athlete. Everyone loves lineman that wrestle and TE’s who hoop, now I want QB’s who play volleyball and can jump out of the gym!

You should check out the instram story clips from him and his father. Especially his father and the trainer (I think) have tons of clips of places most people don't really get to see and kind of shows what happens during a game visit.

From the videos, it seems like they had a generally positive experience. It seems like they enjoyed it enough that I wonder if they are going to try to make it back for another visit this year.
