"Having to live up to the legacy, finally getting the offer, I can say I got it," said Taylor. "I embrace it, but at the same time, I want to make a name for myself. People are always like, 'Your dad went to Notre Dame.'

He gone.

Lol

The complaining about him not being offered earlier was a waste of time since he doesn't even sound interested.

How might that have changed a year ago when ND could've been the first P5 to offer???

Missed opportunity and no one will ever know now.

You only get one opportunity to make a first impression.

Seriously though. For guys like this that are a legacy why not just give them a non-commitable offer and tell them that you are still evaluating. Tell them you like their skill set but just need time to watch them develop, if it's an issue.

If worse comes to worse you can always extend a preferred walk-on offer.

Maybe, but even my dead grandmother (rip Grandma) can read between the lines on this one.

Wtf took so long for the offer. It doesn’t sound very good at landing him at this point in time. But there is still a long way to go. Y’all remember TJ Jones recruitment, TJ’s feeling about attending the school that his father went to was very similar to Taylor’s. TJ was commuted to Stanford when he took his official to Notre Dame. And we all know how that story ended. So please please please Booby Taylor Jr. give Notre Dame a legit shot!

I liken it to this....it's like having on of your childhood best friends turn into the prettiest girl in High School and you always wanted to date her. Do you wait for her to be asked out by every guy in school before you tell her how you feel or do you do it before? Either way, you know what you want. You just get that head start and out flank everyone else. Doesn't mean she will say yes, but it sure increases your odds.

I prob just sit in my room and touch myself looking at her slutty halloween pictures cuz i was too chicken shit to do anything in high school

Not that surprising and can't blame the kid. Any Texas HS kid getting offered by TAMU would covet the offer unless they just didn't want anything to do with them. TAMU recruits Houston hard, probably within 90 minutes from home, SEC, good defensive coach, team on the rise, etc.

Agree. And his father punked them a few times

I read somewhere, I think maybe 247, that his dad said if he had it to do over again, he would choose TAMU. That is a kick in the gut if true. Dad basically told him that if he chose ND, college life was all business and no fun allowed.

Was probably the case for a kid coming from Longview, Texas. Damn good player at ND and NFL.

As he asks his 18 year old son.....Son, you want to work hard, get a better than average education that sets you up for success and have a legitimate shot at the NFL or have a good time and have a shot at the NFL?

Something must have happened with Sr. that a legacy does not even put us in his top 12.

Anything that ND recruiting over the last 10+ years has shown me is that being a legacy doesn’t help our chances at all. Would love to see a list all the recruits that were sons or brothers of former players that decided to go somewhere else.

I'd be shocked and disappointed if he didn't say this to his son......ND isn't for everyone. It's an awful lot of playing school, with a little reputable football game on fall Saturdays, lol.

That sucks. But I don’t feel too butt hurt. Every school in his top 12 are either from the South or the two schools from the WestCoast. If he included schools from the North like Michigan and tOSU then I would feel butt hurt.

We also need to keep in mind his father didn’t have a smooth career at Notre Dame. If I remember correctly, I maybe wrong as it’s been a few decades; but Bobby was in Lou’s dog house many times and he was suspended for games at least once and I think possibly multiple times.

Looks like he was suspended for the Fiesta Bowl in 1994. Not sure if that was the only instance or not.

Yea, wtf does schools like LSU, Bama, etc know about sending DBs to the league?

Matt Freeman though...

I mean...he hadn't played a down of varsity football when he camped at Notre Dame and was tiny. I think everyone knew he was going to improve physically, but some kids don't.

Taylor definitely was smoother and more advanced than most of the 2022 kids at the camp last summer, if you watch this, I'm not sure it screams "offer."

And yes, the last rep is against Deion Colzie.

I get all that, I am not saying they should have offered him on the spot last summer. However, as tape was coming out during the year, you would have thought there would have been a bit more urgency surrounding this recruitment, given both his father and his physical location. Instead, the fall back was the "eye test" from a camp that, as you put it, happened before he played a down of varsity. Meanwhile, aTm offered in October, Bama / OU / Texas offered in Jan, USC offered in Feb and ND strolls in and offers in May? LSU did the same but they are coming of a Natty. As with other instances, this seems like if recruiting was as important to ND as it is to other schools, Taylor would have been offered much sooner.
