He has an all time opportunity to be an Ohio legend, and get the hell out from under Franklin and go take the O$U job next season and save Ryan Days career there.
If he has any pro aspirations that would be the best move for him, but he will likely stay and continue to struggle under Franklins tutelage.
There is still talent there. He just made the wrong move sticking with his PSU commitment.

I will actually laugh out loud if OSU pushed out McCord to bring in sorry ass Allar

The guy who looked amazing vs WVU Labor Day weekend is still in there somewhere.
He has just been ruined by bad coaching.

Regardless. It won’t happen and he will likely just be another big time five star recruit that didn’t meet his potential because of circumstances.

Drew Allar looked like some 20 year-old kid out there. (he's 19). He fared as well under pressure as the ND coaching staff did this year (tOSU).

Offensive development is absolutely terrible at Penn St. Offensive skill is atrocious and any kid that goes there to play offense is asking to fail. Franklin will never not be considered overrated by me

Wish someone could have convinced Dante Cephas of that about 12 months ago.
He would have been very helpful this season, and he did nothing to improve his draft stock by wasting away in Happy Valley this season.
Too bad for the kid.

Glad this was caught and clipped. I died laughing when I saw it and how quickly they cut away from her.

The athletic tracked her down for an interview lol she apologized for embarrassing her kids on tv haha

Same. Utterly ridiculous.

If Ryan Day is hitching is wagon to Allar to keep the pitchforks and torches at bay, man, good luck with all that. Not the horse I'd bet on.

His QBR score for this season was almost identical to Sam’s…I think you guys are really over exaggerating how bad he was for PSU this season.
By no means was he great, but the talent is there. He is just in the wrong spot.
I understand it won’t happen, but if you’re telling me OSU fans would go into 2024 with Devin Brown over Drew Allar you’re the crazy one. In my opinion

He played some atrocious competition. Beating out Devin Brown isn’t the standard, I’m not sure he beats out Angeli

He was damn near perfect in three games this season vs respectful top 60ish defenses according to BCF Toys (Iowa 3rd, Maryland 25th, WVU 64th)
He had a QBR of almost 90 or above in each of those games.

The talent is in there, but it’s obvious most of you disagree so it is what it is.
The most talented QB recruit in the history of their program has been ruined by Notre Dame hating James Franklin.
I don’t feel bad about it at all, just think he needs a change of scenery big time if he still has pro aspirations.

They had Kyle McCord and chose to run him off for Cam Ward, who just declared for the NFL Draft. I think winding up with Drew Allar in the end seems kind of funny.

You obviously subscribe, though, which is fine. I understand the allure from the time he was a recruit. He was Ohio Mr. Football, so clearly not a slouch. Be that as it may, I'm a seller. Many of you are buyers.

Kotelnicki is going to be his last shot if Allar stays at Penn State, and I think right now rolling with Kotelnicki as opposed to jumping from frying pan to the fire that is Ohio State is his best bet. Kotelnicki's work at UB and KU show he can get something out of nothing or very little. Allar was poor against Ohio State, Michigan and Ole Miss. That's their bar.

Life comes at you fast, and it's going to come even faster when The Portal makes these coaches and athletes make rash decisions. You might be better off where you are as player or with who you've got as a coach.

I hate pOSU more than any other team. I will be gleeful if they end up screwed over this QB situation.

With that said, pOSU didn’t run off McCord. McCord wanted guarantees that he would be the QB next year. I don’t blame pOSU from saying no. He did a decent job this year but not enough to say that he should be guaranteed the job next year.

I would be curious how Freeman would handle a similar situation. I would hope they would also say no to someone who hasn’t fully earned a guarantee.

Yes, I agree with most of this.
I just think in this new age of college football, you have the chance to reinvent your career with no one year penalty anymore .
You look at the three Heisman finalist this year and multiple young starting NFL QB’s right now.
A lot of them transferred from their first school, and found a much better spot for themselves on the open market.
If Drew Allar still has those aspirations which I have to assume he does, then he needs to get far away from James Franklin and Happy Valley.

He could stay and see what Kotelnicki can do for him. It really is a good hire and so is Tom Allen at DC. If Franklin can do anything, he can make these coordinator hires pretty well. He's just nothing when it comes to beating Michigan and Ohio State.

You are correct about being able to move freely and get into a better situation. I don't really have a problem with it like many others do. I just wonder what Allar's peak really is. Is he Heisman Finalist and or NFL starter material? I was never gaga about him as a recruit like others were, and part of that is for the reasons you mention: it seemed like he was a guy that had to get into a near perfect situation. I just don't think he has the potential that others do.

I can confirm that winds in PA were nuts last weekend. I can also confirm that you can't blame that performance on the wind.

He looks mentally broken.

EDIT: I see that Penn State's #1 wide receiver last year just entered the portal. It's hard not to read that as a commentary on their quarterback situation.
