He had a sinus infection and sleep apnea … come on man

Hope he crushes it, but there’s people with major issues that should be getting much more attention
That is SERIOUSLY downplaying what he's had to deal with.

It wasn't just a small case of the sniffles. Dude had a legitimately serious infection stemming from complications after septum surgery. That contributed to sleep apnea.

Also, sleep apnea is no joke, especially severe cases. It can be potentially fatal and can do serious damage on your mental health.

How has everyone not blocked that POS loser? He isn't worth a second of our short lives. He gives no value.
Some of his negative views are actually true and he says them early. It is a bit like Goolsby being negative against the fierce narrative about Hartman early in the season.

I see a career similar to Sheldon Day.

5th round pick in ‘16. Was a starter for a short time, and has remained as a depth and practice squad guy. He’s currently in his eighth year.
I had a panic attack when I realized Sam Young was *still* in the NFL in 2020 and had played a decade in the league.

He's been negative and I have vehemently disagreed with him a lot, but I wouldn't say his takes were horrendous.

Until today, this one was beyond uncalled for.

Odd. I think there is a level of cunt-iness that a poster breaches that elevates them to a blocklist. The POS's known as PUSU and IrishDrunk are deplorable human beings who only exist to bitch, moan and make whatever community they are a part of, that much worse.

It doesn't matter if what they say has 25% or even 50% truth embedded. Plenty of us can discuss the negative and the positive and continue being 'fans' and sharing our enthusiasm for ND.

But each of us is different in our capacity for entertaining and bantering with negative imbeciles and I respect those people with a higher tolerance for bullshit.

Sure they are, but it’s the constant negativity. He posts like everyone else doesn’t see it.

Yeah I think in the right situation he could be a pretty darn good player

When he was going through what ever he was going through... I was working way too much and didn't get the details and wasn't gonna ask if there was a miserable backstory.

Well now I am cuz I'm on vacation...

Sounded like they were saying he got into a medical funk after a nasal surgery??? Am I to read between the lines for the easy answer there or was there more to this on a personal level with the staff?

Wish he could take a medical and get his degree and then assess his options afterwards. This seems like a very sad outcome

Oh well. Need to get down to 85 and not sure where he would have carved out any impactful role. Best of luck to him.

This one is very confusing to me. Staff was excited for his potential at the beginning of the season. I just don’t buy surgery alone as the reason for his absence. He works his way back during the season and then all of a sudden he is gone from the team again. I hope whatever it is, he will be ok going forward. Dude and his family seemed to love Notre dame during recruitment and up until this point

Never know what someone is going through or what support system they need. Wish him all the best and hope he finds what he’s looking for. He’s a young lad with plenty of life ahead of him.

Do you Nolan and don’t look back. Best wishes.

Ziegler seemed like a great person and the staff were really high on him. I hope he can exorcise the demons and find a good situation, whether that includes football or not.

I was certain he'd be one of our next great LBs after hearing the coaches talk about him last year.

Too bad. I know the kid came from a huge Irish family and wore his grandpa's digit. Sorry to see it didn't go as planned.

Maybe he can go to a mac school and get his shit figured out.

I’ve seen a lot of guys in my line of work have awful experiences with sinus surgeries. I really hope this kid can find peace and get his mental health in order.

This is the best outcome for all parties. It sounds as though Nolan needs to be closer to his support system to function at this point in his life. The ND program is moving to a place where players who can’t be 100% present and engaged will be left behind. Unfortunately, college football is not “college” anymore — you really need to have a professional mindset as a very young person to stay healthy and productive. Most college kids aren’t capable of bearing that burden, even at ND. Hope he finds a spot where he can thrive.

Sat next to his family and grandpa at the spring game this past year. They were incredible people and were so incredibly proud of Nolan and seeing him wear the gold helmet. The weather was awful and it was my three year old son’s first trip to the stadium and they went out of their way to interact with him.

I’ll pray for Nolan and hope you all will join me. The whole “Kicking the Stigma” promotion by the NFL might be the most impactful outreach they do. I can’t count the number of men I’ve been connected with over the past 10-15 years who’ve either committed or attempted suicide because they were “staying strong” and trying to fight their battles alone. And the precipitating factor is vastly different in everyone. I had a point during my senior year of college where I was in an extremely dark place and while I never made an attempt on my own life, the thoughts were definitely there. If it wasn’t for my family and a couple of really good friends, who knows what would’ve happened. The best thing we can do is advocate for ourselves as men and be there as support for those who need it. Nobody has to struggle alone.

I hope he gets the help he needs not only to further his football career, but to live a long and happy life.

IIRC, he took an official to ND after committing to OSU and effectively bad mouthed ND/recruited for the Buckeyes the entire time.
Nope. He was committed to ND, visited several times and ND players were badmouthing the program. It was during the awful ‘16 season. He decided to decomit afterwards.
