Coming back is about the "us."

He needs to see what is best for "him." The NFL clock starts ticking now and the time goes by fast, if he really wants it.
For him to come back, the NIL $$$ would need to be something huge.

What they were asking him to do play after play was downright criminal. Basically running gassers up and down the field with no help. Consistently left on an island with no safety help and Riley would rotate a “fresh” WR to run deep against him. It was especially stupid not to give him any relief after his 100 yard pick 6.

Yeah I was yelling at my TV for ND to adjust to what Riley was doing. USC has high caliber talent and speed. Riley, like you said, just singled out a DB and rotated guys at him all game long. They either caught the pass or wound up with a PI call. It seemed like a winning strategy, if only their defense could stop ND.

I give Christian all the credit in the world. Most others would've hung their head and allowed the bad game to snowball. He kept fighting and ultimately helped seal the game. Kudos to him!

Another DB in rotation would've helped a ton. They desperately needed BenMo out there and I worry against good offenses in the playoffs, how our depth holds up.

Agreed. And probably still not worth it.

Travis Hunter and Will Johnson will be the first two corners taken. Morrison and Revel from ECU both had season ending injuries. The board, as of now, drops significantly after those four.

This idea that he can't go first or second round once the draft arrives seems like wishful thinking and or assumption on the part of ND fans on this board who selfishly want Morrison on the team next year.

I think the injury risk is too high for BenMo to return. He's already undersized, and a second injury could kill his draft stock. Personally i'd be surprised if he's a top half of the 1st round pick bc he's not going to measure well.

I think 2-3 CB's are drafted in the 1st round over the past couple decades...is being a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick better for him financially next year?

They targeted Gray a lot and he forced some incompletions. I think they were 100% successful when they went after Clark.

With that cadre of WRs I wonder why SC even bothers with a TE. Theirs were nowhere near as productive as the WRs.

Speaking of their WR/TE situ - we should go after Deuce Robinson.

You make a good point. Seemed like most of their drops came from their TE.

When talking about NIL, we totally forget that NIL allowed us to bring back Cross, Watts, Mills, and probably Kiser. Without them, we arent in this position.

If we can consistently get our mid round draft picks to stay 4-5 years then thats a big equalizer. Basically how Michigan won a title last year.

I gotta think his stock took a hit.

Any NFL team that drafts a corner in the first two days coming off a torn labrum in their hip should be fired.

I honestly think it's in his best interests to return.

Deep roster of 4th round draft picks thru UDFA - probably the money ball way to build a team versus $8M to unproven shiny object QB du jour. I would think $250k to $500k is hard to pass up when you might be questionable to even get drafted or a college stud who isn't a fit for pro for whatever reason.

Upgraded WR room no doubt had NIL to thank.

Driskell said that if he was a betting man, he’d bet on Morrison coming back next year

If that’s the case that’s the best recruiting will we could have.

Holy cow never saw that as a possibility even with the injury.

i wouldnt be sad with Morrison not coming back tbh, the more reps Moore and Gray get the more they will improve. then you can have younger guys backing them up.

This is where I'm at. We need him desperately NOW (the Mickey timing F'd us). He'd be a nice to have, not a need next year.

Didn't John Brice say a week or two ago that he'd heard from parties on both sides that there was no chance BenMo was going to come back and he was focused soley on the NFL.

Yeah, the whole II podcast shut down the idea of BMo returning.

As much as I would love for BenMo to come back, we don't need him as much as we need:
  • QB (hopefully one on the roster steps up)
  • WRs
  • DTs
  • DE
Can't be blowing our load to get him back, considering we've looked great since he went out.

I can’t get behind the idea of not welcoming back one of if not the best CB in the country next season. I agree we need some other positions to get stocked but can’t fathom passing up a 6 star player. Great corners make the DL better by providing them more time to get to the QB.

I just mean to say that while I'd love him back, we'd likely need to back the Brinks truck up and that money is desperately needed elsewhere.

I get what you’re saying, I’d just say if we can get him back we’ve gotta take him.
