Kid jumps to Michigan, or Stanford, I get it. They're close in profile. But what happens that makes a kid go from "100% committed" to "huh, maybe I don't want ND, I guess I actually want to do basketweaving in Tiger King country"?

Whatever, I'm getting drunk. Brugal tonight, Armitage tomorrow.

Silently commits to ND, coach has him hold off so he never goes public. Waits and decides he still wants ND, so he commits publicly. Two months later he decommits for coaches alma mater.

Very strange recruitment. Signing off on this one.

Christian at ISD just posted something along the same lines. He didn't specify Abiara in particular, but said it was a defensive recruit and most are implying heavily it's Abiara.

Sucks. I get that this year is really odd, but I don't get how you flip so drastically from 100% committed to jumping ship in the span of not even 2 months.

Recruiting sucks sometimes.

Whether Covid is to blame or not, I think it’s pretty obvious this class won’t be anywhere close to what we thought it might be in early March.

He’s an 89 3 star so it’s not like it dramatically changes the class from that perspective. However, I think most think he is substantially better than that, as do I.

Are we pretty much screwed along the D Line now?

I envision Rubio as a better version of Tillery (yea yea 1st round pick but I thought he disappeared too often). Maybe that's koolaid whatever. Onye is solid if not spectacular. If this is a 3 man DL class then I don't think you could classify it as a bad haul no matter where we go from here. Disappointing for sure tho as we all loved Abiara.

And honestly who knows, Armitage might understand the business of CFB recruiting and be open to ND moving forward. Other names like Bennett, Patterson and Rooks (idk if we've even recruited him at any point this past year) seem to be trending elsewhere.

This one is weird cause he directly chose ND over Oklahoma earlier. Seems weird that you all of the sudden choose OU. Hope they hold some spots for flipping guys later in the cycle especially if visits are allowed. What a weird cycle this is turning into. Might have to offer some more Indiana kids lol. Local is what’s getting it done lately

That sucks and I'll wish him well, but I don't think all will be lost if Abiara isn't in the class. I guess we'll need to wait and see though, as now Elston will need to grab another player instead of only fishing for a single elite pass rusher.

What a scumbag high school coach. You could tell from the beginning the coach wasn't going to let him go to ND. Couldn't be more blatant.

I reckon Elston would have stayed in touch with Armitage so its probably not going to look too bad.

They aren't gonna call Armitage... I mean, right?

He's just another SDE waiting to become a 3T after a week of camp Balis. Problem is, all the guys who ND could have probably gotten with a snap of the finger were future DT's disguised as DE's.

Kechuan Bennett needs to understand his place in life!

Is this where they give in and offer Booker from Indy? If Caden Curry jumps aboard too... I'm good with it.

The parents and the kid have a part in this too. I am not here to bash the kids but this isn't on just on the coach.

Just like another recruit that pretty much spit in Taylor's face here recently. But young adults can't be held accountable.

Not even committed for 2 month, ffs.

Two months is an eternity for a teenager, but I get your poiunt.

Very strange recruitment. Signing off on this one.

I suspect they had him hold off for a while because they could read his tea leaves and knew this was a very real possibility.

Im starting to learn not to expect too much from ndfb. They’ll have their special years here and there, but overall they will typically be nothing more than solid. They’re not winning a championship anytime soon. Sometimes I think they wont ever do it again to be honest lol. I get de commits happen every year and ND is likely to flip a guy or two in the end, but they’re still not on the same level as the big dogs and I dont think they ever will be. They wont sniff a top 5 class.

Sometimes you cant have both and ND tries to be elite academically and athletically, but it’s just not going to happen that way in football. I really believe you have to be one or the other and just accept your choice. I’d rather be pleasantly surprised by being wrong about this, but I don’t think I am and I’m not going to hold my breath. It is what it is. Elite school with good football. The elite football is in the past and I do not see it being resurrected. Like I said, I’d love to be wrong here, but if I were to bet money I would not change my opinion one bit unless I just felt like losing money haha.
