This true freshman, future All-American, 1st Rounder has really done so much to stabilize the O-line. Kristofic as well.

Very much so. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with Fisher and Carmody. Alt’s earned one of the starting OT positions for next year, IMO.

I think that with a healthy Fisher and Alt, Carmody is a swing tackle or RG. If I remember correctly, his footwork is an issue, maybe that was Baker..

Jeez, Spindler would have to move to centre.

Why? Kristofic has experience at center doesn't he?

2021 Line Prediction
What I want to see:
Alt - Fisher - Kristofic- Spindler - Baker/Carmody

What will probably happen to start:
Fisher - Kristofic - Correll - Spindler - Alt

I’m thinking Alt and Fisher starting at tackle, Carmondy will start at one of the guard spots in 2022.

Yall just need to take a breath.

That felt real good, but Southern Cal is shit. Fisher is our LT.

I honestly don't know that he is. A lot of the experts seem to think that while Fisher can be a great left tackle, Alt somehow can be even better. I think having them as our two tackles, regardless of which side each plays, is a phenomenal problem to have.

People forget, the media was down on Foskey in camp because he kept getting stoned by Fisher, and well…

Interesting nugget on the ISD post game… Matt Freeman said he heard from a source Alt may prefer RT. Mike Frank didn’t buy it. But if Alt is even open to it we maybe in great shape next year.

The best tackle will play LT, that'll leave the other one to play RT and we'll have two really great tackles. Carmody will now move to guard and he can focus on adding more weight/strength. Tosh needs another year or two to build more strength and adapt to the weight. Then we have Center/Guard openings. Spindler will be pushing ,it'd be great if Schrauth could challenge as well (you know, assuming he signs with ND). Kristofic has done a great job since coming in. Maybe he can add more strength/finesse to his game.

Spindler and Fisher would be the future Guards they way I would see it, doesn’t mean it’ll happen. Baker and Alt are Tackles only. If anyone remembers Chris Stewart, 6’5” 330lbs mountain of a guard was pretty good I think of Fisher as a much more talented version of that. Remember Q was not happy about being moved to guard initially. Worked out well for him

Alright, guys. I’m not sure how many on this board realize how high Fisher”s ceiling is at LT. I commented last Spring, prior to practice, that he would start at LT immediately and he did. He has Orlando Pace potential and will be the 1st tackle taken whenever he enters the draft (provided he’s healthy.) The only way he doesn’t stay at LT is if he “takes one for the team” in an effort to get the 5 best guys on the field.

A day will probably come when putting the best 5 on the field would move Fisher to OG out of necessity... that is IF IF IF Baker & Balis can figure out the problem.

... or Proctor is exactly who we think he is when he arrives in South Bend.

Arguing about which future AA to put where on the O-line is quite a different conversation than was going on just 2 weeks ago. Pro coaches switch guys all the time form where they played in college. Alt and Fisher won't lose any sleep, pro dollars, and they'll might gain versatility. Braden Smith, whom I thought was coming with Q and wanted very much was an AA guard at Auburn, plays RT in the pros and is paid.

I think you just find a way to get your 5 best guys on the field.

I'm pretty confident that Alt and Fisher are going to be our 2 best tackles in '22. In terms of interior, there's a few possibilities.

You have a pool of guys in Kristofic, Spindler, Correll, Carmody, Carroll and don't forget Pat Coogan. He seems to be impressing the staff as well.

My guess would be:

LT: Blake Fisher
LG: Michael Carmody
C: Andrew Kristofic
RG: Rocco Spindler
RT: Joe Alt

Of course, this is all dependent on whether Patterson leaves early or not, but I'm basing it off of him not coming back.

No way a healthy Fisher isn't LT I think. He's mean and athletic. He could possibly slide inside, but he was LT to start the season for a reason.
I'd put Alt at RT.

*** This is how I think/hope it would play out for next year as well (if JPatt goes pro). I saw either Carmody or Kristofic at center, with the other playing a guard spot. In my lineup, I had Rocco playing LG.

I really like the look/feel of this group, however, looking at it again, I didn't think it was possible to have even less experience then this year (overall games played). Maybe Coach Frye can shape them up and turn them into a real fighting unit.

That's a Joe Moore Award looking O-line right there :)

Freshman AA by The Athletic and PFF's All-True Freshman Team

who saw this coming going into the FSU game? not surprised he became an AA just thought it would be 3 years from now.

the question next season is does Alt stay at LT or move to RT.

Exactly. He was signed as a project. Nobody would've guess that he would've developed this quickly.

Some people will argue that it's obvious that Fisher will return to LT and Alt will move to RT. I'm not so sure.
