I've said for years that our o-line is too good not to be getting RBs wanting to climb on board.

Finally Kyren is showing others the way.

no kidding. the way our OL has played the last several years combined with the OL recruiting I don't understand why ND isn't getting any RB it wants.

I love that Meatchicken's mascot is so fucking dumb that the edit graphic did not even have it on there with all the other schools represented.

If we don't have a top 10 class this year I am going to go all in on the bags of cash conspiracy theories because I have no idea what else ND can really do at this point.

ONE win over a #1 team in the national spotlight, plus Kyren being a BAMF...

And now the five-star RB says, "hmmmm, that looks like a decent situation over there."

The “Top 10 Class” moniker is stupid. Average rated recruit is a better gauge and Notre Dame has been in the top 10 in that most years during Kelly.

I don’t agree. Getting 17-20 highly rated recruits is nice, but teams that bring in 25+ recruits in every year are going to be able to cast a wider net. Look at Tennessee who is ranked one spot higher than ND right now, per 247. They have 26 recruits for an average rating of 89.73, while we have 19 for a rating of 90.80. I don’t feel like doing the math, but if you average out Tennessee’s top 19 recruits it’ll probably be similar to ND’s average rating. Then you add in those extra 7 guys and might get lucky on 2-3 of them.

Now with that being said, I like our class better and think it will finish higher. Also, ND seems to have reversed course from years past where recruits used to get a bump after committing to us, now it’s seems like they always drop after a commitment.

The goal this year should be to finish top 10, and next year use the momentum to finish as one of the top classes in the country.

Notre Dame will never, at least under Kelly, recruit to those numbers so it's pointless to discuss. He's already pushing numbers far beyond the earlier years but this isn't a situation where we're going to start hitting 100+ signed recruits every 4 years like the other schools.

We actually had 27 in 2018, but I agree it’s an anomaly.

But consider this if you don’t believe class rankings matter, the only time Brian Kelly brought in back-to-back top 10 classes was with this teams current Junior and Senior classes.

And they compensated for that by taking 22 and 17 in the 2 classes that followed. Team rankings are skewed towards certain numbers more so than they are quality. Since we very rarely hit the numbers those teams do (which is basically oversigning), looking at avg player rating is a better comparison.

247 Average Rating Ranking

2021: 10th
2020: 10th
2019: 12th
2018: 15th
2017: 11th
2016: 13th
2015: 5th
2014: 11th
2013: 4th
2012: 8th
2011: 8th
2010: 13th

My opinion on this is that the staff came in and tried to win the recruiting rankings battle (not that they look at it, but trying to get the best players period) and lost sight of what ND has to offer and who fits that mold. Then BK went in a different direction which saw a dip in the rankings down to 2016-2019 cycles where maybe he was going too much for fit and now he’s willing to climb more up the rankings now that the culture is in place to take a few more reaches. Winning also helps. The 2013 class is a big product of the 2012 National Title game appearance. I hope the staff breaks into the top 10 and stays inside the top 10 in average recruiting ranking for the rest of Kelly’s tenure. Cause then they could be in the top 6-8 most talented recruited rosters

This is where ND needs to be. It is crucial that they bring in highly ranked dudes on both lines to maintain the current identity.

Then use the ND degree and reputation as an advantage in recruiting graduate transfers to fill in weak spots. Rely on good scouting to find guys like Wu.

I've said for awhile that even if he doesn't end up at Notre Dame, he definitely doesn't end up Michigan. I just really get the vibe that he's looking for any reason to spurn them.
