I agree in general, but something is awry at the moment. 33 wins in the last three years and a promising team this season (assuming they play). Program momentum has been positive. So why the wandering eyes all of a sudden? And we can blame COVID-19 all we want, but other schools are cleaning up. So what's going on? Something just seems off.

Yep, something's up. ND is definitely impacted by national recruits not being able to visit, but with multiple commits looking around, it's hard not to assume ND isn't recruiting as well as others right now.

EVERYBODY's looking around. They have nothing else to do. Coaches are out in full force because they have nothing else to do.

Even since he's been committed, he's been posting other offers..... Generally when they do that, they don't stick...I know our TE coach reached out to him first, but he was chip Long's guy

National is the key word here. Let's not forget, ND recruits nationally all over the country, not just in 1 or 2 regions of the country. I don't think ND is doing anything wrong here, kids are having 2nd thoughts, and the big recruiting weekend we were supposed to have not happening also hurt ND. I think that big recruiting weekend ND was supposed to have at the end of March would've been big for ND.

Trust in Kelly. 1 stars turn into 5 stars under his tutelage.

So I'm going to respond to this because I think other posters should see it.

If comments like this are literally all you bring to the board, moderators will likely be banning you. To what extent or length of time, I am unsure. I'll let them discuss and determine that.

But I just went through the last several posts you made in ND sport related threads and every single one of them were just snarky, negative comments like this that add nothing. (Literally zero positive posts in the year 2020.) You don't post when positive things happen. The only way your posts could be perceived are as bait or trolling.

And to be clear, people do not always have to be happy, but if you are going to be negative at least bring something useful to the discussion. Not just snarky, sarcastic comments.

Thank You! I get sick of the Kelly bashing here.

It’s not even about the Kelly bashing.

Kelly bashing is fine! As long as it includes substance, and you’re willing to have an actual discussion.

Cali isn’t interested, though. He offers almost zero contribution to the board outside of “Kelly sucks” or “Rees and Quinn suck because Kelly sucks.”

Or, “BK lovers don’t let us say anything negative about Kelly.”

Kelly has plenty of short comings, still, even after getting his shit together post-2016. He needs to take better charge of recruiting, and put the press on for a couple of elite guys in each class from the start, rather than trying to stay out of it until/unless he needs to act like the “closer” and push a recruitment over the top. He also needs to recognize that this team won’t hit a new gear on offense until they commit to downhill running, and supplement with outside zone, rather than vice-versa.

It’s okay to talk about that stuff, and to be pissy about it, and to bring it up when you feel like people are being too generous.

But if that is your ONLY contribution to the board? Then it becomes clear that you have no interest in the many good things happening around the program, or at least that you can’t bring yourself to admit that sometimes things aren’t as bad as you think, and you kind of tell on yourself with your silence in those good moments.

Ohio St is adding recruits. ND is adding and losing recruits. That is all.

Berrong told Mike Singer today that he plans to enroll in January at Notre Dame. So there’s that.

It makes total sense to me that Berrong would continue to listen to other schools. It's not like ND has shut down TE recruiting. They would probably accept Bowers and Fidone on the spot, today, if it was an option. This is on top of Mayer and Bauman last year. It would almost be naive to not listen to other schools.

What's he supposed to say?

I mean, he said he was committed... then he follows 5 coaches from ND's biggest rival and the recruiting director from their most hated rival.

I don't mind open/critical discussions. Is BK perfect? No. No coach is perfect. Coaching at ND is different than any other college in my opinion, especially with the academic standards, and I think ND should always stick to their academic standards. With recruiting it's too bad other coaches get kids to believe they can't make it at ND because of the academic load, weather, distance, etc. We lose kids and we poach kids; it's apart of recruiting. I agree with you about the good moments!

I posted it just to comment on the early enrolment part. He could have just said all is good, except he went a step further to add he was going to graduate early to get into ND in January. But as you rightly point out, he pretty much has to say that until he de-commits.

OK...

Time for me to reverse course here. Berrong's Dad just did the same thing that Styles mom did and it was directed at people who think like I was thinking. He said he's going to be Irish. Checked his history and pretty much positive it's him.

So if I had to bet NOW, I'd put money on him being in the class. lol

And to be clear, I'm fine with him in the class as part of a one-two punch or as the only TE. Yes, I like a few guys more but that doesn't mean he's not a quality prospect. I think he is a good replacement for Tremble when he moves on.

Here's the work out video Rivals posted:

Where did his dad drop the news?

I loved Styles' mom dropping in and doing what she did. I'll be cheering for her son even harder now.

He dropped it on ISD.

In a thread where people were asking if Cane would stay committed he posted twice. The first one was "I can predict. He will be in the class."

He then followed it with the bomb, "I'm Berrong's dad. He's in the class."

His posting history also clears up why Cane posts his new scholarships. The staff said its fine and it lets people know he is still a sought after TE despite the fact that recruiting agencies keep dropping him in the rankings even when he dominates or does great at events.

Also fun is that he calls out Clemson for trying to pay recruits with "love offerings from the New Spring Church." Though that could be a joke. Not 100% sure.

There is too much smoke out there about this for it not be true. In fact, I feel pretty confident we're going to see some sort of docuseries/30 for 30 on it in 2030.

Agreed. Too bad ND can't compete with these lil johnny come lately congregations but ND would get busted the first day Tyler Buchner show up at class in the Popemobile.

This. I hear it constantly being down here. I work with several Clemson grads and they don't even try and deny it.

Yep. The first time I heard of it was a couple/few years back so my memory is a little foggy on it but it was basically a thread on reddit or something of the like by a Clemson fan. He was posting because he was hearing all these rumblings about it happening (from opposing fans) but didn't want to believe it. So he posted it looking for fellow Clemson fans to shoot it down and he could go tell those opposing fans to kick rocks. Instead, there were an insane amount of Clemson fans who basically said it's true, this is how we do it, here's why it makes sense, how smart the Clemson football program was to do it like this, how it differentiated them from the other programs that 'pay' players, yada yada yada.

What are they doing specifically?

Telling players they'll be in the prayers of Dabo's favorite congregation for blessings, aka "tell us what you need and we'll get if for you"?

New Spring Church has a facility right next to Clemson's Campus and most of the team attend Bible studies there throughout the week. What goes on during that Bible study is what a lot of people question. These "community groups" as they call them, are closed groups - not just anyone can attend. One of the things the church will even admit to is helping out players' families that are "in need". If a player comes form a poor background their families receive care packages from the church.

This church has locations all over South Carolina - and several of these locations are in the upstate(where Clemson grads and fans mostly live). One of the rumors that I have heard several times is that if there is an orange "C" in the top corner of the offering envelope that envelope goes into a separate pile. I am sure you can figure out what that means...

BTW, this is the church that Dabo and his family also attend.

Had a pretty big drop in the 247 rankings. Lost his fourth star, went from #225 to #521 https://247sports.com/college/notre...n-the-Top247-Update-From-247Sports-148259353/

Explanation: "Didn’t have the physical traits and upside of other four-star tight ends. Times we have seen him in person, he did not jump out from the pack. Solid, polished player without the upside to be a Top247 guy."

Literally when did they see him anytime in the past half of a year? They are changing rankings on kids who they haven't seen since last summer.
