Kiser, Moala, Sneed and Ziegler is probably correct for 2022 Rover. I also think the Rover depth chart is a balancing act with WILL, Nickel, Dime and S depth charts so kind of a lot of moving parts. We kind of got screwed this year because ideally someone like Kiser could have stayed on the field as essentially a WILL on passing downs. A more passing focused Rover or a S comes on. Because of the lack of S depth though, Kiser had to stay at Rover, which meant Bertrand staying on the field at WILL and he got burned in coverage many times. JOK blessed us with flexibility there. It was my sneaky bold prediction Projected 2022 thread, I think Ziegler works his way into a lot of PT this coming year, because he can offer that flexibility that many of our current Rover’s can’t and he’ll be physically ready.

I like what you said here. Interestingly enough with Freeman’s UC defense the Sniper (Rover) was much more like a safety than a LB. It would seem at first glance ND is not going this direction though with our lack of safety recruiting this past cycle. BUT that doesn’t take into account that the athletic ability of these LBs we are bringing in.

Great point about Bertrand being on the field all the time. I think this was a part of our 3rd down struggles a lot early in the season.

It’s the new world. There will still be like 4-5 more from what 247 has been suggesting. Just have to hope at least one of Styles and Colzie sticks around.

Why would either of these guys leave? The opportunity for success is right there. Plus they both saw playing time Freshman year. Are they just homesick? Dissatisfied with Del?

Unhappy with Del is the popular belief. But it could be the other stuff too and it’s not necessarily a package deal. One could stay and the other leave.
Crazy that we finally play freshman wide receivers and they still aren’t happy.

No denying there’s been a lot of attrition under Del

For Styles, it's also the opportunity to play with Sonny at OSU, to be coached by Hartline, to play in a more WR- friendly offense than ours, and to cash in on Buckeye NIL money that we're apparently not offering him.

Would Styles even start at OSU?

If we lose Styles this team goes from being a 11-2/10-3 team to maybe .500. He’s a guy who should minimum get 8-10 catches or touches a game. He should be a 1,000 receiver next year

While there will never be a way to prove this right or wrong, I think its a but much to say its. .500 team without Styles. Like a lot a bit much. If Austin returns WR will be Ok this year, but it would be scary beyond this year. If ND is a .500 team this year it will be solely because we do not get adequate QB play, or somehow MFMF ends up a bust as a HC which I dont see as likely.

That would be a weak big brother move to follow your little brother around after he rejected you.

So the talk of Styles leaving was shot down by two sites, yet we are still discussing it, why? Has there been actual credible info that Styles is leaving?
Its funny because the two reasons I’ve read are; 1) That they don’t like Del 2) They will leave if Del is fired.
See my point? How can those be the two rumors? They are exact opposites of each other.

I think if Styles would've left he would've been gone by now. Depending who does and doesn't comeback Styles could easily be one of ND's top receivers.

Yup.

So far Lax is the only source I've seen or heard with this info.

To clarify, I actually said the opposite, which is that they don’t have a great relationship with Del and may put their names in the portal after the season if he is retained.

And to the above from Reaper I haven’t seen anyone “shoot down” the rumor after it started spreading like herpes. ISD locked threads on it and said “we don’t discuss rumors.” I don’t subscribe to Rivals, etc.

There is no reason for either to put their name in the portal now. That doesn’t jibe with the basis of the rumor which is that they want to see what the WR group and coach situation is going to be heading into next year and then may consider their options. It’s weird that people have warped things into them “for sure” transferring which is not the case or they’d already be in the portal.
