Kiser, Moala, Sneed and Ziegler is probably correct for 2022 Rover. I also think the Rover depth chart is a balancing act with WILL, Nickel, Dime and S depth charts so kind of a lot of moving parts. We kind of got screwed this year because ideally someone like Kiser could have stayed on the field as essentially a WILL on passing downs. A more passing focused Rover or a S comes on. Because of the lack of S depth though, Kiser had to stay at Rover, which meant Bertrand staying on the field at WILL and he got burned in coverage many times. JOK blessed us with flexibility there. It was my sneaky bold prediction Projected 2022 thread, I think Ziegler works his way into a lot of PT this coming year, because he can offer that flexibility that many of our current Rover’s can’t and he’ll be physically ready.
I like what you said here. Interestingly enough with Freeman’s UC defense the Sniper (Rover) was much more like a safety than a LB. It would seem at first glance ND is not going this direction though with our lack of safety recruiting this past cycle. BUT that doesn’t take into account that the athletic ability of these LBs we are bringing in.
Great point about Bertrand being on the field all the time. I think this was a part of our 3rd down struggles a lot early in the season.
