Sorry but how do they know each other besides the occasional mutual camp/visit?
I forgot the details but there was talk of them having a relationship. I think they met at ND. Both should be 28 kids. Article attached is from today and Vaugh states "Also, it was important because I got to be with Marcus Fakatou‍, who is a big-time recruit too. I feel like it was just important to get back down there." Picture of them with Partridge

I don’t feel good about Fatakou (can’t spell). Every kid is different but this is a mirror image of Justin Scott recruitment.

And honestly, if the $9M from Oregon is legitimate, I’m telling him to go there if it’s my kid.

not every big time recruit is Justin Scott and besides him and family are good friends with KVA and his family so that helps the coaching staff a little

Texas A&M just got a prediction from Wiltfong for Mark Matthews. I know Albert is a OG prospect, but Jesus their OL class would be unfair if they land both of those guys and Kennedy Brown. Certainly should help us a bit for Olubobola cause we was high on A&M as well

Looks like both have Texas A&M and Miami in their top, so whichever one Matthews goes to, Olubobola will go to the other

I’m fairly confident that with a defensive minded coach and a NFL position coach our Dline recruiting in the end will be just fine. Reminds me of the portal season when many, myself included, freaked out early because we were missing on our guys only to land a farm good class.

Well they did it once with a Dream Team DL and you see how that worked out! I guess this time they will try it with the OL

Part of me thinks he is purposely throwing off the reporters/insiders. I am actually surprised more HS players do not do that. By the time they make their decision, most already know where the player is going. I am not saying he is an ND lean or anything, but it really seems like he is saying every school is his leader to throw off "predictions" and "crystal balls."

I actually just think he’s a nice kid from a nice family. Every team is putting on the full court press and selling why they are best for him, and at the time each pitch sounds great and compelling. Then he steps away and thinks about it and gets to the next school, and same thing happens. The only constant in all of this is ND has always been and remains in his top 3-5. Whether that’s enough, or if Oregon and others are really throwing $3M and we can be remotely competitive, remains to be seen.

I m not these against kids getting paid, but offering a HS kid 9 mil for 3 years who hasn't done a damn thing in college is ridiculous. A proven college player in the portal....ok, hes a known commodity. Makes me shake my head at all these offers.

Interesting point...my son went to a D1 ID camp for soccer that was local...the coach had a recruiting talk and mentioned, if I had 2 players same level, 1 a HS senior and one who has already played several college games, he is going with the experienced college player. Glad my son didnt then retort, "then why am I here?" lol

Contrast that to another local Chicago D1 program who preferred HS seniors vs mercenary transfers as he is building a program, a culture...2 huge differences in viewpoints.

Or he could just be that impressionable like most teenagers...😏😏

That's exactly where I'm at with this. You can't possibly evaluate a high school kid and believe he's worth that kind of money. It's crazy. Too many unknown factors. Not to mention someone can offer him $10M in a year if you're right and he transfers.

I feel like this is a response to IU winning last year, of all things. Phil knight is desperate to win a title. They’ve been Texas Tech’ing it for nearly 2 decades with very little to show for it. Knight has to be furious that Cignetti did it in 2 years with a third of the budget.

Very true. I think Miami is going to start getting goofy too.

Honestly, with Vaughn and Sesay heavy ND leans, and still going after Fakatou, I doubt ND is pushing hard for O'Neil.

O'Neil is #5 at DE in the pecking order it would seem...

#1 Sesay
#2 Fakatou
#3 Vaughn
#4 Muhammad
#5 O'Neil

That appears to be the approximate priority list, with guys like KJ Green, Ifeanyi Emedobi, Sanatana Harvry and Esa Wittingburg still in contact as well.

It just doesn't feel right to rank these guys in one group since they'll be asked to do different jobs in the field. One could envision:

True Edges:
#1 Vaughn (I'm ridiculously high on JV)
#2 Sesay

Swing SDE/3T:
#1 Fakatou
#2 O'Neil
#3 Muhammad

O'Neil gets the nod for me here based on several factors; length of time spent recruiting, profile fit and likelihood to commit/stay in the program and develop.
