Didn’t realize Atkinson was the Rolesville (NC) QB:

Teammates with Griffin-Haynes in the 26 class and Amir Brown and Marquis Bryant in the 27 class. So they are very familiar with his HS staff. Destined to choose elsewhere right when ND has momentum.

I think Prister mainly does film reviews now because he’s bored and complaints about lack of content.
I also feel this. There was a LOT of bitching and moaning a couple weeks back and suddenly a bunch of content for content's sake popped up.

It's the off-season with nothing else to cover.

No Junior Days, there was no bowl lead up, or playoffs. The Freeman-NFL-ND extension drama has come and gone. I imagine he's got more time for these things than he would have before.

He throws a pretty catchable ball but seems a tad late on a lot of them. Seeing guys open not anticipating. Also not big time arm talent, sufficient distance but more question the velocity. 6’1 height probably in question. Besides Twitter clips would want to see more Mercer film for any strides. Don’t think he would beat out Grubbs/Jarrard based off HS film but fine swapping with Hebert for someone with some sort of snaps under their belt.

Yeah, I like Mike, and ISD does a great job at covering, but Mike would go on a 10 minute rant about how the Gug's new carpeting is going to have a negative impact on recruiting if he could.
I specifically remember roughly a year ago Mike saying that ND would need to start being more ruthless when it comes to keeping underperforming guys on the roster. Then 2 weeks ago when it was stated that ND was cutting pay to underperformers, he went on a huge rant. Can't have it both ways.

Yeah you don’t have to be a sunshine pumper but with Frank it feels like he’s looking for stuff to be mad about just to be mad. He’s basically the average message board poster.

Honestly, both QBs are lackluster. Hebert is likely better than both of them. Experience for a backup is not really that important.

Which is exactly what he was (NDNation) before he started his site.

Experience is pretty important, but more so than that, development is important.

Hebert "may" be better than both of them, but as of now, he's not ready. Atkinson may not have Hebert's ceiling, but he is developed and can run an offense at a competent level. If Hebert was ready, they wouldn't be looking for a QB in the portal to back up Carr.

Obviously the ND coaching staff disagrees with you.

I watched Herbert's film a couple of weeks ago and thought to myself that I didn't think he's even that close to the QB recruit that Jarrard or Grubbs were.

He does have a strong arm and is a physical runner though.

Mercer HC also played at OSU. His senior year was Tressel’s first year.

Would have been a nice get to have a body that big but would be really have played more than 10 snaps a game? Probably best to return to UCF
I agree, but there might not be much margin for error at DT now. With how bad the DT depth chart is, ND might be playing with fire if they can't lock up Ibirogba and Gilliam by the time their visits end. They appear to be ND's top choices, based on what ISD has said.

Doesn't seem to be the type of DT that we've featured under Freeman, either.
I think it's less because they don't want it and more that it's hard to find.

There's only so many 340+ dudes who can also move extremely well.

I dunno. For a one-year-rental backup QB I think I’d go with experience over upside potential. If Carr gets hurt in a tight game you want a guy who has been in the fire before. His head will be more important than his arm, in that scenario.

It might be different if Hebert was the future, but he probably isn’t either way.
